I have never been able to really define boyfriend jeans, but I know when YLFers post them in outfits, I always love them, including yours. I am a fan of mid rise and relaxed fits, (among others). I have long wanted some for myself, but attempts too get that look have often failed; I get jeans that simply look like a size too big. I like my"girlfriend jeans", as marketed to me, because they are not tight, are mid rise and have a straight leg, but I think maybe the closest I have ever got to boyfriend jeans are these white ones, based on Angie's evaluation. Slouchy enough in the right places? Truly a fab set of items, all fit well, and you styled them all up very nicely.&nbsp;</p> <p>You know, the term "boyfriend" jean does seem to be&nbsp; -- ah, shall we say -- open to interpretation? 12 years ago, a BF jean was a very loose jean worn low on the waist, often with a dropped crotch, and a slightly tapered leg worn with a cuff (as a rule). Then they started making "slim boyfriends" which had a similar cut but were not worn as loose, and then there were "girlfriends" (I'm not sure what they really are), and then some boyfriends came with higher waists, and on and on.&nbsp;</p> <p>I tend to think the one of the key characteristics across all these variables is that the BF jean will have some looseness around the hipe and thight, narrowing down somewhat towards the bottom. It's not a true carrot style or barrel or balloon leg pant -- the looseness is more "slouchy." But it's definitely looser up top. Most will be a bit slouchy at the waist area, and often they are what we'd now classify ast mid rise rather than high rise. They're a forgiving, easy style to wear. I am not usually a tucker and almost never a full tucker, but this top is quite cropped and boxy on its own, and hits at the widest part of the hip if it is untucked. Does this work?<br /></div><div>2) The new things here are the necklace and the boyfriend jeans. <br /></div><div>3) I recently thrifted this cotton ditzy floral button-down and almost let it go because I thought it was too big. Now I am embracing the looseness and think I will keep it. It feels like a neutral. <br /></div><div>4) New red cardi from TJMaxx, because I have been craving at least one bright color to perk up my grey and blue wardrobe. It's too warm to wear at here at home, but this will be part of my travel capsule for an upcoming trip to a colder climate.
