I don't mind a little bit of distressing, but i don't like torn jeans on me. I do like the juxtaposition of worn/distressed jeans with more polished pieces. That, to me, is the way to wear them at my age (50). One of my "uniforms" is distressed jeans/boyfriends with a black top or tee and dark flats (in warm weather) or booties (in colder weather).

I tried on a pair and the ripped in the store. I then tried on another pair and they *almost* ripped in the store.
I just don't think they're durable enough for me.
Love the look of a bit of distressing though!

I am not a fan of heavily torn jeans, but I like all styles of denim. I love faded washes but it seems not many of them actually look good on me, with my hips and thighs. I look better in dark wash jeans but they look dressier -- so I often sacrifice some of my style wishes for a little more flattery.

I agree that the market is totally over saturated with ripped jeans. Skinnies too. I feel like seriously distresses jeans will start looking dated in the next couple of years.

I lean towards a more polished look (I had trouble adopting the partial tuck because it wasn't perfect) but did buy a pair of skinny distressed jeans in a very faded denim last year and wore them for more casual outings. I didn't buy them because they were distressed but because they fit really well and I thought looked good so it was a way to dip my toe in without plunging into the distressed pool.

I do like all washes for jeans and have some faded and some darker wash.

Love faded denim, love torn and distressed denim. I laughed at what Lisa called dark denim --- "Office Jeans" -- because I wore my dark jeans to work and haven't worn them since I retired.

I have WIWs with distressed and faded denim.

I like faded blue denim but don't like distressed or torn. Having said that I don't mind them on others it's just not my thing. I have decided that I have way too many pairs of dark denim and need to purchase lighter denim.

Fades - yes, love them, torn - no, too much of it everywhere, I agree. But I keep a pair of dark ones for the office.

I'm not usually a fan of distressed jeans, but I bought a white Frame pair this summer and I like them a lot. It's the same Garcon cut I have and love in a non distressed black pair. They are cooler than the white crops I bought at the beginning of summer that have too much non natural fiber in them.

Yeah - I'm a committed torn, worn, distressed and faded denim lover. I don't really love a dark rinse jean - they remind me of "office jeans". Which are kinda pretend jeans Sorry, I'm making myself laugh here . I agree with Angie in that there is too much of the distressed and torn denim out there right now, and it's now over-the-top in the junior market especially. Worn and distressed denim is a polarizing thing - women seem to either like it and embrace it, or never wear it. Interesting .

I like torn denim. I do occasionally like to wear very distressed denim, but they are a relatively small amount of my bottoms.

I don't mind faded jeans for the most casual part of my wardrobe, but draw the line at distressed or torn. As with Angie, they are just not my style.

I LOVE faded blue jeans because I love light blue. See my pieces below. I prefer light blue jeans to dark blue jeans by miles.

Personally, I don't wear torn or shredded denim because it's not my thing, (not suited to my style or personality). Greg laughed and vigorously shook his head when I accidentally ordered a pair that I modeled for him. (I didn't know they were torn from the online photo). Enough said.

That said, torn and shredded denim absolutely has its place in fashion. Much of today's fashion is about juxtaposition. Torn jeans are a great way of creating that hectic juxtaposition, when worn with dressier pieces, or uber casually with fashionable intension. I shop lots of distressed and torn denim with clients.

My only gripe with torn denim is that there is too much of it at the moment. The market is saturated. A little less of it will bring back a happy medium.
