TJ Maxx is just coming to Canada now??
When the first Walmart was built here in Brampton there was a spot next door to it with a big sign reading 'Coming Soon TJ Maxx.' It's been a long time coming!! (That lot is a furniture store now)

The mall in the town next to mine recently opened a TJ Maxx's. I have been able to find several great pieces...as long as I was willing to comb thru the racks. Hopefully, my Candian friends will be just as lucky.

STYLESENSE is a store owned by Winners/Homesense, that sells only SHOES! Last I checked, there were only three stores in the Toronto area (check out Winners/Homesense Website for details). The store is HUGE and A-W-E-S-O-M-E! they must have 500 different styles of shoes, from Steve Madden to Clarks to Prada, and everything in between. The stock is similar to what you find at WInners, just a lot more of it. I make a point at stopping at the one at Vaughan Mills when I drive through Toronto.

I always get a chuckle hearing how US stores are re-named abroad. I am hard pressed to tell the difference between Marshalls and TJ Maxx myself. In our area, many (but not all) Marshall's stores have shoe "super stores" (large departments) with a really wide selection. Meanwhile our local TJ Maxx stores often have "runway" departments with designer apparel and bags. But they both cover a lot of the same ground.

OK, I got curious enough to look it up. Here's how the company describes the two stores:

"T.J. Maxx sells brand-name family apparel, including women's footwear and activewear, home fashions and other merchandise such as beauty. T.J. Maxx differentiates itself from Marshalls with an expanded assortment of fine jewelry and accessories, all at prices 20-60% below department and specialty store regular prices.

"With a product assortment similar to T.J. Maxx, Marshalls sells brand-name family apparel, including shoes, home fashions, and other merchandise such as toys. Marshalls differentiates itself from T.J. Maxx with a full line of family footwear and The Cube, an expanded juniors department, as well as a broader men's selection. In 2008, Marshalls launched a new concept called Shoe MegaShop by Marshalls, which is a standalone store featuring shoes and accessories."

So in Canada I'm guessing the slight differences in the two stores will continue?

Brianna, I second you in curiosity how Winners is different from TJ Marshall. I like Winners and got a lot of good pieces from it - you just need to hunt :-).
BTW I have never heard of STYLESENSE in Canada. I guess we do not have one in my city. D you know waht is it?

Sweet! I wonder if they'll open one in Vancouver. I didn't know that TJX owned Winners and HomeSense, but it makes sense because they're basically the equivalent of T.J.Maxx as far as I know. I wonder what will be different about Marshalls as opposed to Winners.

Thought all the Canadian YLFers might be interested in this:

http://www.boston.com/business.....p_Emailed3

TJX is planning to open Marshalls stores in Canada starting next spring. I have had some good luck at Marshalls, especially for shoes for me and for the kids ~ a fun store!
