For my own wedding my mom madethe dress. Our ceremony was at noon and my mom was still finishing my dress at 9AM that morning!
Oh and one of my girlfriends asked me if this is a wedding dress slip when she saw my dress on the hanger in the morning...so much for a bride confidence!
However in the end everything was fine: the dress was finished before we had to leave the house and it looked much better on me than on the hanger :-)
I am sure everything will be perfect for your wedding day and you will be a stunning bride! Just take a deep breath and relax

I'm obviously late here, but I had to chime in to offer yet more reassurance! Your dress is just perfect for you--I really mean it. It is beautiful, chic, and looks like it was made for you. You will be breathtaking!

And how exciting that you might find a pair of shoes at NAS that work! I was feeling sorry for your poor feet, having to squeeze into a slightly small pair, especially if it's hot that day :). Crossing my fingers that the Vera Wang ones work and look lovely.

Thanks for all the advice ladies! I've calmed down and I'm feeling better. I will take pictures of my dress at the next fitting.

Also, there are a pair of shoes at NAS that might work with my dress and come in my size!!! Those little silver Vera Wang embellished peep toes. Can't wait to try them and see if they work.

I think everything will be okay once it comes together.

You've had so much great advice already. Hang in there, Marianna! It will come together when it's actually done --- don't panic just yet, until it is ready.

You *did* look stunning in that dress even when it didn't fit; and pimples are a problem that can be solved or at least camouflaged (medicate concealer!). (Could the photographer fiasco plus the usual wedding-circus nerves be leading you to second-guess your choice?)

PS: about the salicylic acid + AHA remedy, a little stone-fruit pulp (peach, nectarine, mango, plum...) mixed with a crushed aspirin will give you that combination readily. Or just dab on aspirin mixed in a little water (less messy by far!).

Ah the joys of bacne. The suggestions here are great! Also, a nightly rubdown with isopropyl alcohol works great. Don't use it on your face (!!!) - but on your back and chest, it is magic.

My wedding dress was $29 at Banana Republic, a plain white shift. I spent more on the La Perla underwear I rocked under it! Wow, that was a long time ago. Dang.

Marianna - I break out on my face and not my back, but I've used these on B's back and it helped:

* Diluted tea tree oil (just a basic, cheap brand from the drugstore) on a Q-tip
* A more expensive option, but it's a great product and one tube lasts for a LONG time - deep cleansing herbal clay masque from Aveda (http://www.aveda.com/product/6.....index.tmpl.) You can use as directed or you can spot-treat pimples and leave them on overnight. Usually by morning the redness is gone and the swelling is way down.

I had second tha third thoughts about my wedding dress because it was an empire style falling from the bust. I wondered if people would think that I was pregnant! I did feel like Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice. Your dress is stunning on you. You will be a gorgeous bride.
About the back blemishes...if you don't have one, invest in a Clarisonic brush and maybe the long handle. (I don't have the handle attachment but intend to get one). At my age I still have problems but haven't had any since using the brush at least once a day. I use it before getting into the shower but I think you can actually use it in the shower.

For bacne (back acne), you might want to check out the acne.org web site. I cleared up my teen daughter's back awhile back alternating between Dan Kern's 2.5% benzoyl peroxide (which fades nightwear and sheets), and then alpha hydroxy acid (AHA/glycolic acid) and salcylic acid which he no longer carries. I think her skin tolerated the latter two best. Then, the routine got tiresome just as the back became clear. . .so back to square one. He has product reviews on his site, and his big mantra is to be gentle to the skin as problems can be aggravated by treating it too harshly.

I looked at SO many dresses, but honestly, couldnt see spending mega-bucks on something to be worn for a few hours out of my life.... I did find a lovely wedding dress for about $225 (on sale from $400) and both me and my DH were quite happy with it. We ended up spending much more on where we got married (a beautiful floral conservatory) than anything else. You are already a beautiful woman and people will remember the happiness and loveliness of you and your soon-to-be DH and the ambiance of the place more than the actual dress! Besides, many details on the dress dont show well in the photos, anyway.Just TRY and relax and know this is one (albeit important) but just one day out of your lives together

Marianna, I had a huge case of wedding dress cold feet at one point! I had my dress specially made, and the first fitting was a muslin version of the dress. Suffice to say that muslin obviously does not have the lovely drape of silk (the fabric of the final dress), and I was really worried. But the woman who made the dress for me (an experienced costume designer) reassured me it would look a million times better in the next fabrication. I was still a little worried though, until the next fitting when I felt *much* better when I saw the dress staring to really come together.

So I just wanted to reassure you that someone else has felt this way, only to be thrilled with the final product. You looked beautiful in the dress, from the photo you posted, so I am betting you'll feel better next fitting too!

I was one lucky bride. My mother took me to the bridal store for ideas and inspiration, and then went home and made my wedding dress. It was perfect, and the $ spent to make it was much lower than retail.

My daughter is getting married this Saturday, so maybe I can help you out a little. She picked out her dress in October and had her first fitting sometime in March or April. I could tell from her face that she was really disappointed about the dress. The first thing, it was really really big on her. They still had to put clamps on the back. The people at the salon didn't seem especially upset about it, so we figured that it would be OK. the second fitting was much better and you could tell how beautiful the dress was, even thought it still needed some tailoring. She seemed much happier. She had her last fitting on Saturday, and it was perfection! I don't think that you'll really get the full effect until they are done with the final alterations. Hang in there. The best is yet to come.

You look gorgeous in your dress. For back pimples, try buffing in the shower regularly. I find I get body pimples from too much dry skin that clogs the pores. Scrubbing with a buff puff or loufah should work well. As far as the dress itself, I wouldn't worry too much. I also had cups sewn into the dress for support. For myself, I was very nervous about my dress, my husband is a tad opinionated and I know he's not a fan of me in dresses of any style, let alone an entire floor length gown! But he liked it. The shiny smile is what he will notice most that day. Your hubby to be is marrying you, no matter what you wear.

I did have wedding dress jitters. I bought a full length evening dress for our wedding in Vegas and as time drew closer I began to doubt my choice 'should I have bought an actual wedding dress?' Perhaps a short mod lace dress would have been more appropriate?' but on the day with the hair and make-up in place as I pulled on my dress it felt perfect.

Marianna your unaltered dress was stunning, I believe in your choice.

Marianna, that dress you posted here was really stunning on you. You looked gorgeous! I didn't notice the deep v looking inappropriate at all! I think it's normal to have wedding dress "cold feet," especially as the wedding draws near. There is so much to organize and plan and so many things to worry about. Sometimes this worry manifests itself on the dress. But I think you chose a beautiful dress.

As far as back pimples, try Panoxyl-4 (it's a benzoyl peroxide cream wash) and a loofah cloth (not a loofah, but the rough washcloth thing to exfoliate) in the shower every morning. At night use a benzoyl peroxide gel or cream (wear a white pajama top). This is the only thing that has ever helped me. You can get both those things at Walgreens.

I didn't have a wedding dress (we went to the courthouse and I wore an outfit my husband had given me) so I'm not familiar with the wedding-dress second-guessing, but I can't imagine that it's not totally common. Your stress hormones must be elevated anyway, plus the dress is such a big deal--this is your one chance to be a princess, of course you want to get it absolutely right! I think many women must feel this way.

About the back pimples... I had them myself for years, and then I got a short haircut--magic! They were gone! So maybe try keeping your hair up and off your back until the wedding and see whether that helps. I think the extra heat from that blanket of hair was the problem, because my hair had practically never been in direct contact with my skin, so I'd suggest keeping your hair up even when you wear clothes that cover your back.

Congratulations!

Specifically, the bust doesn't fit quite right at the moment, but the seamstress is working on that. I feel that it is too low, and I don't fill it out at all. I also can't find a proper bra to wear with it that won't show through the dress. The seamstress already put cups in the dress, and she is closing the deep-v a bit, but there is only so much that can be done. I just need to find the right bra now. It actually looks fine bra-less, but I am totally uncomfortable with that. (I'm not necessarily small busted, but I am super shallow so it looks weird with a plunging neck line).

Also... the dress exposes my upper back and I have some back pimples. It's a persistent issue. Not sure what I can do about that.

Those are pretty much my main concerns...

The dress was already taken in 1-2 sizes so it looks a million times better, but it's not perfect yet. And I hope it will be flattering in photos.

Thank you for letting me vent. I'm starting to feel the wedding nerves/stress kick in!

A week before my wedding, I went into a huge panic and ended up ordering a different dress. Thankfully, I did not need to have it altered. Of course my first dress was something I made too far in advance and didn't seem to fit properly by the time the date came around.

Your dress that we saw here is *gorgeous* and I don't think you need to worry one little bit!

Marianna, I think as long as you're not having cold feet about the actual wedding, everything will be fine! ;-)

Can you be more specific about why you are nervous about the dress? Does it make you feel self-conscious about your body? You say you have a nagging feeling that the dress is not suited to your figure. How is it revealing? Does it bare your upper arms/shoulders/chest? Most tops don't do that, so I can imagine how it might feel a bit odd at first, so maybe that's why you're feeling doubtful. But I bet it looks great. I can't offer more ideas without a picture, but I do think that your dress should make you feel like a goddess, so if you can pinpoint WHY the dress is making you uneasy, it might lead you to some solutions.

I didn't have wedding dress cold feet at all. I loved it. It made me feel like a cross between Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice and Cinderella. I did have a bit of last-minute panic when I discovered that the outline of my underpants -- any style of underpants -- showed through the dress. It was made of multiple layers of gossamer light, floaty chiffon, so even though it wasn't see-through, a bump showed over the waistband of the underpants. The problem was neatly solved by wearing no underpants at all -- only reinforced hose -- which made my mother freak right out, but that just added to the fun of the whole day, lol. What's a wedding without the mother freaking out a little?

The dress you have chosen is absolutely *stunning* on you Marianna - so please don't worry!

Just for the record, I had a few doubts about my dress too, but that went away - the closer I got to the wedding. Once I got the jewellery picked out, the shoes found etc. I relaxed a bit more. I had alterations done as well, and it wasn't until the dress was completely finished that I felt really good about it.

Did you find some shoes yet?

I'm curious if this is something other brides have gone through!

I just got back from my first fitting, and while the dress is looking much better, it still needs work... and I am nervous about it, and I am nervous about my choice of dress.

I keep having this nagging feeling that maybe I should have chosen a dress that was more suited to my figure, less revealing, etc etc etc...

Did anyone else have second thoughts? I'm obviously keeping this dress, but I wish I wasn't so doubtful about it!
