I like everything except for the jacket. Only because you mentioned it fit snug. And when I try to keep snug jackets or blazers, they never work for me in the long run. I would try it with your winter layers to be sure it's not too tight. I'm super excited to see that waterfall cardigan on you, it drapes beautifully and I know it is super soft. It did not work for me, but it's a wonderful piece.

I decided to keep the capris. They are a tad too long but I'll wear them for casual dance, etc. I have been dancing tango--In classes and for practice--in skinny jeans (my only mid-rise jeans at least till the next order arrives). ; )

The cardi and jacket especially wowed me. LOVE.

Make sure you can wear the jacket over the layers you want to for Fall and Spring though. If you're happy with the comfort level - thumbs up from me. It DOES zip up - which is important - but you probably won't wear it that way anyway.

Adore the sneaks. I'll be surprised if they wear down that fast.

The tops are good too.

Thanks again, everyone.

Suz--I do wear my other leather jacket a lot. This one is a heavier weight and in my northern climate, I could get a lot of wear out of it. Of course, it still has to be great for that cost.

One thing that is a problem is that my iPhone's camera always have distortion. I might need to have hubs take a pic of me with my real camera (though trying to avoid that : )

Firecracker--yes, sporty luxe would probably work well for me because when it comes down to it, I'm really casual and I live in my sneakers. PS: Thanks for the brilliant socks recs!

Shevia--I particularly adore your way with style, so that's a vote of confidence to seriously consider!

Thanks, Beth Ann. I did not get the Lemmings jacket.

I'm starting to think the shoes would be a good buy for me, they'd incorporate well into my wardrobe and the cost per wear would be very low. Yes, it's a little painful paying that much for a sneaker, but I have more expensive boots that languish in my closet...

Una--I'll try hitching up the Zellas, also folding them at the hem the way you suggest. Thanks. I'd really like for them to work out.

Thanks, KL. I am on the fence about the waterfall cardigan, but I have only tried it on once! I'll check again today, and of course I'm hoping Angie will advise. I think it would be a comfortable piece to wear inside. I didn't even think about it getting caught in a car door ; ) And now I'm wondering if it's so long, it will be visible under my coat and how that would go down (I don't own a long coat...I'm short and I don't like the look.)

Thank you, celia! : )

I wore the Leith cardi today with flats and I'm definitely not tall at 5'2". But I agree with others that you need to wear it with the front draped to the sides as in pic 3. I think of it like a mid-length duster, for petite gals.

Nancy, just wanted to add that I also wear the Zellas higher up on my waist (with climbing harness) and that shortens the length as well.

Love the shoes and the EF top --- Are the shoes worth the cost? That's a trickier decision that depends a lot on your feet and your current shoe wardrobe.

I have the Leith cardi in my closet, but it's going back because of the length in front. I'm 5'6", but I just felt it was a bit fussy in the "caught in the car door and confused with a napkin" sort of way. I would have liked it better if it were 2-4 inches shorter. I like the way the arms and shoulders fit on you, and think the color is gorgeous!

I agree with Elly--I like the waterfall cardi in pic 3 but not so much in 2. I think wearing it open is the key. Also, your camera angle seems a little slanted, so I think we are getting a picture of it that makes it look proportionallly longer on you than it may be. I say keep.

I like the drape-neck top!

I have a bias toward the sneakers, because I have them in the black/snake print combo. I love them and have been wearing them as I would a casual oxford. The color you chose and the one I chose are clearly not gear; they have that sporty-luxe look. I wore mine sightseeing in Europe and they are holding up really well.

I like the looks of the jacket. If you wouldn't want to wear it closed anyway, I see no problem with it not zipping comfortably. I have a jacket like that; I can zip it, but not comfortably, and I always wear it open.

You have some great finds. Love the EF tee on you. Silk is tougher than you think but I'd follow the advice about not soaking it too long. I like the Leith cardigan, especially the color on you. About the Mephistos, they are comfy and a good brand so probably the cost per wear will be low. The only thing to consider is whether you think you can find something similar at a lower price point. Personally I love Mephistos (except the $$$).

For some reason, I'm not loving the leather jacket on you. But it may look different in person. Pictures really only tell part of the story.

Eileen Fisher is your best friend! Love that top on you. And I don't find silk all that labour intensive. Throw it in the wash in delicate, hang to dry, touch up with the iron, voila!

Sad about the Zella capris -- I wonder if AG's trick would also work for you? Worth a try?

The waterfall cardigan is a great piece but it does look a bit long -- however, what about wearing your booties/ boots -- styling as you would mostly wear it? For me, that often shifts the proportions just enough to make something work visually. That might just be my particular body issues -- my calves are on the short side and that bit of lift there can really fix an apparent problem.

I like the Mephistos a lot for gear-type or ultra casual wear. They look great. Of course they'll wear down on the heels -- that's what happens when you walk a lot. C'est la vie. Happens to all my shoes eventually. The ones like booties, with heel caps, get repaired; wedges and sneakers die an early death and so be it.

As for the jacket, it looks like you are in love. Do you wear the other leather jacket a lot? Do you have enough leather jacket weather to justify this? If the fit were perfect, I wouldn't quibble a bit. But where the fit is a wee bit off, then I start asking practical questions, even in the face of love.

Leather jackets do stretch some to fit. I do like it on you, especially without the fur collar. The cap sleeve EF top looks perfect on you. Just swish it in the sink with water and a few drops of baby shampoo, rinse and hang on a plastic hangar over the tub or in the shower. It will dry even faster if you roll it in a towel before hanging. Just don't leave it soaking in water. That can weaken the fibers I've read. If you smooth out any wrinkles when hanging ( like give it a shake) there will be no need to steam or iron. In fact I'd advise no to iron. It's too easy to have it too hot.
The sneakers look really cute and burgundy jeans are a keeper.

Can't wait to hear Angie's assessment (and you can't always predict she'll have the majority opinion , but I'm already getting invaluable feedback. Oh well, if the jacket goes back, I'm saving quite a lot of money. If it comes down to it I'll grab hubby (who hates taking pics like these) and get a shot of the jacket from the back. It's looking like the jacket won't make the final cut?

AviahMaria, you're looking at another short girl, heh. I will try the cardigan on again. I'm so inured to things being long on me, sometimes I don't even register!

Una, that's an idea for the capris. I'll give it a shot. They would be so useful for dance practice.

You know Shoe Math? (Alternately known as Girl Math.) If I don't keep the jacket, I'll have saved all that $$$ I can then spend on the shoes. :D

I tried that Leith cardigan and there was just too much soft floppiness going on in front for me, plus it was too long. A great color, though. Love the EF top. Not sold on the jacket fit - could we see the back view? Drape top looks useful! Mephistos are great shoes generally and worth the price, although I'm neutral on lace-up sneakers as anything but gear.

BTW, the Zellas are long on me too. I fold the cuff so it's half as wide which helps.

My very quick assessment:
1) love the EF Top
2/3) Love the color of the Leith cardigan; just wonder if it's a tad too long? But could just be my short girl issues showing through.
4) love the burgundy jeans and the silver shoes. You'll have to decide if the $ is worth it for the shoes but I think they look great.
5-7) I'm just not crazy about the leather jacket on you . It looks like it might be pulling funny through the shoulders? It looks likes it's wearing you a little and I think a leather jacket should have that lived in, completely comfortable look. IMO
8) great color and looks like a great layering piece.

Glad that the Eileen Fisher top worked for you. I like the Leith sweater on you (love the burgundy jeans) but I think you need to think about how it falls naturally on you-- open like 3 is much more flattering than hugged to your neck like in pic 2. As far as the sneakers, I think it depends on how hard it is to find comfy supportive shoes --- sneakers are my easiest buy, so I would probably pass on them unless I'd already struck out with the gold Taos the Staysfit has. Then again, I wear through high end sneakers the same as regular ones . . . at an alarming rate (from the woman who is on her third pair of Salomon fashion sneakers in 3 years). The jacket isn't my favorite on you.

Hi. Well, two days ago one of the items arrived, and the rest today. So of course I scurried to try everything on and see how much of a hit or miss it was. I feel like I have done pretty well, despite deciding not to keep about two thirds of it.

The stuff that didn't work I feel strongly enough about that I didn't bother taking pics. (Apart from two items here I'm undecided on, but like a lot.) The Foxcroft blue gingham shirt had sleeves that were a funny length and looked awful in the bust (though technically didn't gap). Most of the knitted tops I vetoed are too clingy and really don't flatter my midsection, like the Vince Graphic Boxes top. There is one top with that issue I've decided to keep anyway, as a layering piece, the Halogen sleeveless drape neck top. I really need tops! Then there was a Caslon grey cashmere sweater that was casual-nice but I need things to be excellent, especially above a certain price point.

The Zella capris were too long for me...they didn't have petites, and it ended up too long. Or else visibly bunched up if I brought it up to the knee. That is a big disappointment, actually...I could really use a pair....

(By the way I have another order I just placed for tops, trousers and booties. I feel very decadent. I'll keep you posted.

So what seems to work for me? I really like the Eileen Fisher cap sleeve silk tee. Silk is a little labor-intensive, but I always do well with the cut of the EF clothing.

The Leith waterfall cardigan everyone's debating--I tried it on with some long sleeves after being advised. It seems to fit okay in the arms. I really like it quite a lot. I wonder if it's going to make me look even bustier with all the drapey fabric in that area. Please give me honest feedback.

The next somewhat questionable item was the Mephisto sneaker in silver. It really suits my lifestyle, they are super comfy and cute. I am balking a little at the price and slightly worried that I will wear down the soles on the outer edges of the heels (as I do with some shoes) and wondering if there's anything a shoe maker could do to protect them. But I am simply up in the air about them, maybe needing enabling? Or perhaps an honest "they're not all that."

And finally I am dodging the issue of the Brenna jacket...well, not really. I truly love this jacket. The weight, the construction, the cut, the luxurious feel of it. And I only have one other leather jacket (completely different weight, color, cut).

At size XL, it's snug. I can zip it shut, though. But I know the commandments on buying things that fit you now.

I don't want to buy this in plus size, assuming it's even available. I just think it'll be too bulky or something. I just want it as it is! Wearing it open. However, if I'm being unreasonable, I need to consider letting it go. Be honest. : )

pics: 1. Eileen Fisher cap sleeve tee
2-3. Leith waterfall cardigan
4. Mephisto Yael sneakers (with the burgundy NYDJ I bought in-store and that I am definitely keeping)
5-7 Brenna leather jacket. I would favor wearing it without the fur collar.
8. Halogen drape neck top

Thanks a million, all!
