I think it looks great unbottoned and it sounds like that fits your style better anyway. I tried this cardigan during the NAS but the pockets made it super lumpy on me for some reason. I'm not seeing that on you at all.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm afraid it's the pear shape and the cardi style, which is too straight for me if it fits in the shoulders. . I was planning more for unbuttoned since that looks less, well , buttoned up, but still. I've never belted an UNbuttoned cardi, but I've admired that on others.
It is likely going to be less versatile than I intended, but I'll put together some of the best outfits for it, keeping things in proportion. I do love the color.
Janet, I got the shirt at a second hand shop on a trip this summer. I figured it was some year's vintage but would be fun for casual.

What about buttoned and belted with a more voluminous bottom like a pleated skirt?

Looks like a good fit both ways. Personally I much prefer cardis unbuttoned over tops like the shirt.

It looks like a classic and not fluid fit. Definitely unbuttoned is the way to go.
Lovely color for you.

I think it looks like a good fit, but not the roomier BF fit that you might be after. Could you exchange it for a larger size? Pretty color:)

It looks a tad tight when buttoned. I'm seeing whiskering/pulling that indicates it's a bit too small. That said, it looks fine unbuttoned.

I agree with Janet, it looks like a classic, tailored fit. I actually prefer more fluid fits on longer cardigans; but on regular length like yours tailored fit looks just about right.

I think the fit looks nice -- tailored but not tight. As long as it layers nicely, I don't see a problem with it. You can wear it open for a bit more fluid look.

I recognize that paisley -- I have that same JCrew shirt from a couple of years ago!

I got this Halogen merino cardigan at the NAS. I thought I had sized it fluidly at the time but didn't order more than one size to try, and wasn't really thinking oversized or BF fit for it.
Now when I put it on it seems awfully fitted compared to what my "eye" is getting used to. Even more than when I bought it (though I've not changed, of course!) I wish I'd tried it a size up. Too late now.

I re-posted my old photos of it--I probably would wear it more with pencil skirts than pants, for layering warmth and for color with neutrals, and could try layering it over a more fluid tank or T and wear open, not buttoned, to relax the look more.
But, does it just look "off" now? Or how would you style it as a more classic fit cardigan than the more trendy BF styles, to make it work.

Any suggestions welcome.
