I prefer the first one but I wouldn't consider it a classic design so it might look inauthentic if you have a classic style. It looks like a Stephen Webster design (<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.stephenwebster.com">http://www.stephenwebster.com</a>) -- he definitely incorporates sharper lines and edges to his work that is similar to sharpness of that overlapping band. The first picture below is his thorn ring (modern with a bit of edge).</p> <p>I'm absolutely a fan of middle finger rings. And completely understand your concern. Above everything -- you have to LOVE it! See below images of mine. I LOVE my Stephen Webster crystal haze ring (black dome) but the other diamond bands works well with other combinations (inspired by De Grisogono Allegra rings).
