Oh Carolina Herrera, I would wear anything of hers!!!. I also love her classic elegant personal style.!!! Renee Zellweger wears her exclusively.

I have said before that I love Issac Mizrahi's personality, he is funny , honest and down to earth. I know nothing about his line for target , but he is a gifted artist and talented designer...but he and i would have a lot of laughs over lunch. He reminds me of a very dear stylist friend of mine

I found a book Diane von Furstenberg wrote back in the 1970s at a thrift store and I love reading it. The tips she wrote then are still relevant today.

I also love Anna Molinari of Blumarine. In fact, if I could afford to be "dressed" by designers, Anna and Diane would be my go-to girls.

Ele, I'm sure you are very right!

I love all those on your list. Certainly people whose public personas really match their style, as well. I have a girl crush on Margherita. Well, ok, on Missoni in general. Carolina is royalty to me.

Oh, I love Kaiser Karl. He's just such a character. Of course, most of what he says is bound to offend someone, and I definitely agree that this is a character that he puts on, but I've been enjoying his ridiculous comments for a good 15 years now, so I doubt I'm going to stop.

Hmm, it's difficult for me to think of a designer who's an inspiration to me, which sort of surprises me. I guess, having worked in the industry and having friends who do currently, I've heard so much about various designers/industry types that a lot of the facade is ruined for me. I mean, I've heard things about designers that are just ridiculous- like my friend in NY who isn't allowed to look in her boss's eyes! Many of the London types are no better.

If I was to make a list, Vera Wang would definitely be on it, as would Carolina Herrera. I also love Isaac Mizrahi and many of members of the Missoni family.

Oh, I do agree he is deliberate. I just don't like it! But, I guess he has to stand out from the crowd!

I got an email today from LB that really threw me off and makes me agree with your comment above. It was entitled "Shorts, Cropped Pants, Leggings and More!" or something like that. I opened it and what did I see? Anything related to summery clothing that belongs on your legs? No! A picture of the Ashley in the red bra and all kinds of text about the ad, as well as another ad for Cacique. Huh?

Angie, I think DVF is in her 70's. Maya certainly does a lot of thinking! ;)

OK, it is time to start working on getting Angie that tea with Vera!!

I love how Maya has thought about these things in great detail :0)

Rosie, I also believe that KL says things for deliberate effect. Also like DVF. She's in her 70's I think?

I *have* to meet Vera Wang at next NYFW. I'd love to have tea with her.

I think there is a lot more contrived controversy in the fashion world than we can believe. I fully believe the Lane Bryant thing was contrived, and I also think a lot of the crap KL spews is very deliberate.

For example, when he was acting all outraged that H&M released his line in the full range of available sizes because he meant for it to fit "slim women" only. Really Mr Lagerfeld? You really didn't know that H&M would be releasing the line in its usual range? You thought you could specify that it only be available up to a size 38 (or whatever)? Please. I'm not buying it.

Anyway, I don't know of any designers who really inspire me. Recently I saw Tory Burch on Project Runway and found her to be a major disappointment. She came off as being vapid and a little dense. I prefer not to know too much about my heroes. It's inevitable disappointment.

Vera - how coincidental, my pick is also Diane Von Furstenburg ! Not only do I love everything about her, I also love the fact that she raised a son who married Maria Dibartiromo - another one of my favorite women and a pioneer on Wall Street !

There was this hysterical site that had you guess who said each ridiculous statement - Kanye West or Karl Lagerfeld. I'll see if I can find it! I think my aversion to him is that I don't understand how someone who was once over 300 pounds could be so outspoken about overweight people. In a way I guess it makes me feel sad for him because it seems he must have lived with so much self-hatred.

Vera is definitely someone I thought of last night on my list of loves!! She is so REAL and lovely, and so talented.

Vera Wang. Vera Wang. Vera Wang.

Karl Lagerfeld is a theatrical scream and I enjoy hearing his obnoxious and egotistical points of view. I would probbaly be really annoyed with him if I met him though.

Last night I was thinking about different designers and the effect of their projected personas on me. I am curious if anyone has a favorite designer based on personality (what we know of it) and public image. Does this person's style mesh with the personality? Do you like the clothing as much as the designer?

For example, every time I read an interview or anything written by Diane Von Furstenburg I am inspired. I admire her for her business acumen, her confidence, and her appreciation of the female form. To me, the words I hear her speak tell me to love myself. I think she comes of as someone who knows who she is, and I think her style fits with that.

In contrast, there are some designers whose work I truly admire and love, yet I don't appreciate who they come across as. (OK, I admit - I think Karl Lagerfeld is a rude hypocrite, for example.)

I know there are some opinions out there!
