It changed a bit when the big retailers like Zara arrived, because they offer lots of colours and local retailers had to compete. But I sense a bit of a retreat to neutrals happening now. I think I love cool weather style because of the opportunity to layer, the fabrics (velvet and leather especially), the darker colours and patterns. I’ve always enjoyed warm weather from a lifestyle perspective (I LOVE the long days) but not so much from a style perspective. Eg the abundance of white, blue and bright colours at retail, t-shirt style dresses and shorts that don’t suit me, and patterns that don’t grab me (everything turns very seaside and nautically themed). But I’ve been getting better at navigating Summer each year. This is the first year I have found myself enjoying my Summer wardrobe as much as my Winter! The mesh top at no 7 is commercially dyed.
