Fabulous picks Michelle (and Angie!-). Two of those are on my wish list too;-)

First scarf. I love the purple for you. Besides bright purple it also has lilac, dark grey (almost black) and an emerald green.
On my screen the green version has lime green, fuchsia bordering on darker red, brown and greige. (warmer colours)

Second scarf. The black and white is different from the black and white one the model is wearing. The model's scarf is actually grey and black, part of the scarf (the middle? it's hard to say since it's draped around her neck) also has red, cobalt blue and an orange-y gold.
I prefer the cleaner look of the other black and white one. The border appears to be black, and I'm not sure but part of the scarf seems to have a larger black/white/grey checkered pattern (and the wide stripe Joy mentioned).
This is a complicated scarf to figure out;-) But fabulous!

Third scarf. Another gorgeous one (I really think you should get all three, Michelle).
Although the blue one is fantastic, I would love to see you in the green one because it has a few of the shades you were contemplating for the party dress you had made a while ago. Main colours are a turquoise-ish blue-green, a sage green and light cream.

Do let us know what you decide?

I see what you mean, Steph. When I click on and then enlarge each scarf, all have other colors on the center except the black and white (which now actually looks black and white).
When I click on "black and white", the scarf shown has an area that looks like a white and light grey wide stripe in the center, then maybe more houndstooth check. I wish they would show a picture of the scarf spread out.

Joy, I'm not sure that you are describing the same scarf as scarf number 2 as I am. Michelle, in the link you sent us, there is a photo of the model wearing the scarf, and it is exactly as Joy describes it. However, there are four colors listed as options, and when you click on the black and white scarf, it is as I described it--a black and white houndstooth with a little bit of grey and no other colors. There are also three other scarves in brighter colors that have the coloration around the neck that Joy describes. None of the color options listed actually matches up with the scarf the model is wearing. I suspect that the one the model is wearing has sold out, and isn't an option. So the black and white one that you would be ordering, unless they did something strange with the photo, is more of a plain black and white with no bright colors mixed in. Hope that helps!

The third scarf: Houndstooth is a lopsided check. Maybe someone else can describe it better. The over-all look of this scarf in any color is animal print because of the way the various prints it includes are arranged. It also looks more floral to me than scarf #1. I really like it and think it will be fine for winter although some of the colors seem more spring-like. There are mixed areas of the houndstooth in just some parts of the design.
There's some off-white background, black leopard spots, grey areas and lighter and darker areas of the color going on. The blue is a medium and a lighter true blue, not as intense as cobalt. The green looks close to turquoise and the least wintery but very pretty. The purple has medium purple and lavendar with the white, grey and black.
My favorites are the first and third scarves. For the third scarf, each color is pretty. I think I'd choose the blue for you not considering what you'd wear with it, but you will want to choose thinking of your coat/jacket colors.

Michelle, I have never done this before, but I'm going to take a crack at it for you.

Scarf number 1, in purple: the background color of this seems to be a very light grey, or perhaps a grey-lavender color. The print is large and very swirly. It has a bright purple, two shades of green (both cool-toned greens), and some black and grey. The purple is the main color. You could definitely wear this in the winter, and it is a very cool-toned scarf overall.

Scarf number 1, in green: This is the same pattern as the purple scarf, with the following color changes: the purple is replaced by a color that they call green, but looks on my screen to be more of a yellow/yellow-green/citron color. The greens in the first scarf are replaced by a magenta/berry color. This is definitely a warmer-toned scarf.

Scarf 2 is a black and white houndstooth. A houndstooth pattern looks like a check from far away. Closer up, you realize it isn't exactly a check--it is actually a "broken check" and looks kind of like a check on a diagonal. But it looks very much like a check. The scarf is pretty much equally black and white (the colors alternate in the pattern), with the border being black. There is also a little bit of grey mixed throughout.

Scarf 3 has a little bit of houndstooth in the pattern, but is not an all-over houndstooth the way scarf 2 is. It is more of an abstract patterns, with various patterns mixed into the scarf, if that makes sense. Houndstooth appears in various sections throughout the scarf, as does a floral print, and a print that is kind of made of small dots. The purple one has a combination of bright purple, lavender, dark purple/blue, grey and cream. The green has shades of seafoam green, teal, taupe and cream, and the blue has shades of aqua, darker blue (not quite ink blue, but almost), grey and black. The colors are mixed throughout all of the different patterns, so it all works together. I realize that from my description it sounds very busy, but it actually works together nicely. In each of the color combinations, the colors work together so that when you are looking at the scarf, the dominant color is clearly purple, blue or green (depending on which scarf you are looking at). I think that all three of these scarves are more cool-toned than warm-toned.

Joy, amazing description. Thank you so much. No. 1 sounds absolutely beautiful! :)
Ele! Great to see you on here!! Thank you for your input too. Btw I tried a tweaked version of one of your pasta dishes last night (the braised leeks) with great success!

The second scarf is not black and white, but a black and grey houndstooth but with color in the center part that shows up nearest the face. The black and grey version has an area of red and black houndstooth check and areas of saturated bright blue and a burnt orange. The border is black.
Edit: I see that they call this black and white, but when I enlarge it, the lighter color looks grey on my monitor, not very white.

Michelle, I LOVE no. 1 in purple for you- Angie has it spot-on, as usual. I also really like the third one, which I like best in purple and blue for you. The second is very nice but feels less special to me, somehow. Maybe I'm just loving florals these days.

The first scarf in purple is a very abstract floral, so that you don't even realize it's floral. Most of the scarf is a lavendar with the huge flowers outlined in what look like big brushstrokes of soft black. Other accent colors are a darker purple, and two greens. One looks like a dark mint green (bluish but not quite aqua) and a lighter shade of the same green.
Looking again, I want to say that the floral is very abstract so that it could almost be a paisley. It is fine for a winter scarf. There's lots of black shading with little dots or lines of black on color that can appear as greyish areas.

Thanks a lot Sihaya. How about the purple in option no. 1? Are the colours the same? That's the one Angie flagged for me.
Would the floral pattern look out of place with winter coats or is it an abstract design?

I don't see green but it might be how my screen is interpreting the colors. The first scarf I see as larger/bolder print - with fuschia, off white, grey (mabye that's the green) and black. The flowers part is fuschia and off white. The grey/green is the background.

The second one, the border and is black. most of it is black with some white checks.

The third one - large-ish red flowers. houndstooth is a small check. There are some brown on brown checks. Then there are brown, white, and red houndstooth.

Personal preference - I like #1 for it's uniqueness, #2 for it's combination of patterns, and #3 the least. HOpe this helps Michelle.

One last thing, sorry guys!!
Angie flagged a couple of scarves that I'd love to get some descriptions of. Could some of you kindly indulge me?

This one. Angie flags the purple, and I'm also wondering what colours are in the green print? Please describe the print, the size of the flowers, the shades in it, the background colour etc:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/31.....pe=predict ivesearch&keyword=scarves+for+women&origin=searchresults

This one in black and white. Which is the border colour? And background?
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....79%7e60080 00%7e6006944%7e6025349&SourceID=1&SlotID=1&origin=related&cm_Sp=Related-Item

And how about this one? Interested in hearing about blue, green or purple. Is a h oundstooth a small check?
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3101941?Category=
>
