I highly recommend the Degree for Men Adrenaline series . . . they have even more active ingredient than the Clinical Strength bunch. I was using Certain Dri with another antipersperiant on top, then switched to Degree Clinical for women. I discovered the Men's by accidentally using the SO's deodorant. I could not figure out why it kept me so much drier and less smelly . . . low and behold I read the active ingredient list and see the very high % of ingredient. The one in the orange tube does not smell "manly" at all.

I absolutely love Donna Karan Cashmere Mist, and everyone I've referred is addicted to it as well. I didn't think a deodorant from a designer would be so amazing. I love the smell and the protection has never failed. My clothes smell better AFTER I've worn them. Check out the reviews at Nordstrom. It has cult status.

I started use Certain-dri after hearing about it here. I do it every other night and then use a little bit of Dove deodorant during the day. It's been wonderful!

Lots of those products are unfamiliar to me her in SA but I can vouch for Mitchum Powergel - I use the unscented one because I hate the smells of deodorants.

The one that works for me lately is Mitchum For Women "Advanced Control". Claim is "48 hour strength and protection" (unlikely, but this product is very good, imo). I normally put it on each morning after a shower. It's a solid but doesn't seem to leave me battling white spots on clothing etc.

http://www.mitchum.com/Product.....Solid.aspx

Prior to this, I was using Mitchum For Women Powerl Gel - it was a clear gel that worked quite well, it's just that I've found the "Advanced Control" works a wee bit better at battling the dampness.

http://www.mitchum.com/Product.....Women.aspx

Both are quite good. I have also used some of those "overnight" type ("clinical" this or that) anti-perspirants, but usually only for a big-deal event - like a wedding and/or a gown of some kind. I'm not keen on using something that is so powerful that it'll stop sweat to the point where you'd need to put it on at night. The idea has me wondering if it's such a good thing that you can find products that'll stop the sweat for days/weeks. Just doesn't seem like a good idea to me on a day-to-day basis.

Try some of the Mitchum products - they work. I've tried all kinds of different deodorants/anti-perspirants, and leaving aside the "clinical" (ie. permanently blocks your sweat glands) brands- Mitchum is the best on the market, as far as I can tell. The gel works well, but the fancier "advanced control" is even better. Get both and give them a whirl. Use the gel version when you're hitting the gym or out for a run, and the 'advanced control' solid type when you're wanting a bit of extra dampness protection.

editing to add: My DH also likes the Mitchum for Men as well - much better than other brands he's tried.

I had the same problem and discovered it was usually the scent in the product that was the issue. I started using Mitchum smart solid either mens or ladies and not a problem since. I know a few other people who had this issue and tried it and said it worked for them too.

What Ceit said. I use Certain Dri every 6 or so weeks overnight. Then for the day, I use a spritz of my favorite eau and unscented or baby powder gel deodorant. Works great.

I will add that I have been using Certain Dri now for over 10 years, and now I need to use it less and less. When I started using it, I would sweat more in other areas - like between my breasts or on my head. But that has totally stopped, so if it happens to you, endure and it will pass.

I used very mild deodorants (bought at a pharmacy) during winter but had to use drugstore ones (antiperspirant) for the summer because, well, I'm not that stinky and I shower daily but somehow the smell bothered me -although it seems, not others. I think it's something by Dove.

I suffer from folliculitis so I need very mild stuff for my armpits (currently I am going through a scary phase due to Dove and periodic waxing... yay?). I haven't found a solution for dampness though.

I know there are really strong antipespirants out there -like the kind you use for a special event, interview, etc- but I'm not sure they are that good for the skin. It depends on your skin sensitiveness.

I'm having a heck of a time with deodorants lately. One works for a while, and then it doesn't anymore. Even the so-called "clinical protection" and super formulas seem to be only somewhat effective.

Anybody have any suggestions? I don't care to use the kind that are only deodorants without antiperspirant. I'm trying to control dampness and smelliness. :-)
