Very cool and fresh. I like the movement that volume and soft fabrics give. Slim and/or structured silhouettes don't have that "flutter in the breeze" and "float into the room" quality. Very nice outfit!

Thanks, ladies. This was one of those looks that just felt great, so it's nice that you agree.

Denise, I totally get what you're saying about the challenge shopping for domestic items presents. I am having no trouble getting stuff for the weekends because of the American made inexpensive jrs stuff. (Note: This outfit is pretty casual. The skirt is knit, American Apparel. The shirt is modal, Michael Stars.) But am having a much harder time for my work wear. And that's where I need to start focusing next. I've been surprised by the amount of domestic products Nordstrom carries and think I can find stuff though it'd be nice to have a better way to search their site by that criteria. I'm sort of going in this order of preference when I think about buying new stuff: 1) domestic, 2) used, 3) new imported. We'll see how it goes as I try to fill holes in my work wardrobe. I'm not really looking forward to it, but it has to be done as I find myself struggling to get myself dressed in the mornings. As an aside, if you come to SF to shop again, I'd love to hook up.

Kari, I'm touched that you think of me. I miss being here, too. I was just thinking of you the other day when my little L turned 2. I had just found out that I was pregnant when I met up with you and Angie in Seattle. That trip was to visit with my father-in-law and we spent so much time basking in the idea of becoming parents/grandparents. That entire trip, you and Angie included, will always be an incredibly special memory for me. Since then, life has been moving ahead at warp speed and it leaves little time for things like sitting. But I do pop in to see what folks are up to. I keep an eye on your posts and I love the evolution of your look these days, too.

Alecia, it's so great to see you post. I miss you here.
First of all, I love your hair these days, especially the bangs.
Second-wow! You really pulled this off well. I think it's partly due to the knee length skirt and asymmetrical hem of the floaty top, but whatever it is, it doesn't look like too much volume and I think it's totally flattering. Love the bracelets that accessorize the outfit, too.

Very well-balanced volumizing, Alecia --- showing of your slender legs and arms really makes this work brilliantly. Love the leopard print with your hair colour.

Whoa Alecia! You look fantastic! And can I say how very flattered I am to have another team member on the volume on volume side.

I am very impressed that everything's domestic as well. I have not been able to adhere to this perfectly.

At first, I discovered there were many made in the USA brands but they are pricey. I still do purchase them (premium denim brands, and California brands like Splendid and Three Dots). But I can only afford so much. Then I discovered this whole world of inexpensive Jr's made in the US clothing. But after a while, I realized these were just that: inexpensive Jr's items. So I have a collection of these (tops mostly) that I just today put in the donate bag. Now, I have a preference for domestic goods but it's no longer a deal breaker for me to buy something imported from the country that owns a lot of US debt. More of a goal than an absolute.

I have noticed that some retailers have a good selection of EU-made, reasonably priced clothing (Zara and H&M).

Hi everyone! It's a rare posting from me, but I wanted to recognize my ylf inspiration with a WIW. I love the way Denise (cocolion) puts together voluminous pieces. Here's my take on volume. We were headed to a picnic on a day that was 104 degrees. Also, most of the clothes are made domestically, which is an emphasis that I decided to start seeking because of a post by Cocolion.

Thanks, Denise!
