Thanks Ana, that helps a lot! I noticed the same issue with having to pull it down. I might try posting pictures if I can't make a decision. I don't have access to the camera right now (long story).

I have the skirt in a 6 (which is my true size at most places) and it is snug at the top, but it doesn't give me muffin top or anything. It does stretch a bit though. The first time I wore it, I had to pull it down a lot (it liked to work it's way up my waist). I have yet to encounter a denim skirt that doesn't do this, though. After the first wearing, this stopped being a problem, with only an occasional adjustment to get the seam in the center. I only wash it on cold maybe every 3 or 4 wearings, since it doesn't really get dirty (I'm indoors on chairs a lot), and it's not quite hot enough here that I'm sweating a lot, either. I air dry it, and it hasn't faded at all.

Maybe you should post some pictures of you in both skirts, and we can help. It does stretch though, but I wouldn't say it gets really baggy, just comfortable. On me, the waistband sits right below my belly button, I think.

Thanks again for skirt tips, ladies. I received the BR skirt today (the store didn't have it and I had to order online).

Ana, how does your skirt fit at the top? I ordered 2 sizes and the smaller one is fairly snug below the belt. The fabric seems pretty stretchy, and I don't know if the bigger size would end up baggy.

I didn't make it to the Nau store... perhaps some other time.

Thanks Antje! I like this dark color too, and it would be more versatile. I didn't know about Nau's earth-friendly aspect - I thought it was just another outdoors/sports clothing line.

I didn't buy the skirt (but am deliberating it; I think it's super but very pricey... I'm torn). So I can't comment on how it will hold up. It definitely seems like very nice quality. Do you know about Nau? It's all very earth-friendly stuff, which I applaud. The denim felt great - soft, the right amount of stretch (for me), etc. I also love that it's very dark (much darker than the one at BR Angie sent a link to); I already have a lighter one and was looking for a dark wash one that looks a little "smarter" than my existing more casual lighter one.

Personally I like slits if they are not too high or right in the front, and this one is neither. It just adds a little bit of a sassy element, but really not too much (in my opinion). I recommend trying it on and then just see what you think...

This skirt looks great Antje, except I had the same question about the slit. It is a little more than I was planning to spend, and I would like to see it in person. How is their quality? I'll see if I can make it to their Bel Sq store.

The vent (? slit?) is actually pretty much at the side. It doesn't open at all when you stand. When you move, it opens a bit, but I think it adds a nice touch

This is a great skirt (but pricey): https://www.nau.com/homepage/i.....ts/307W818
Someone had recommended on a different thread a few weeks agao, and I tried it on. It's very flattering, and looks very sleek.

I bought mine in store, but they were flying off the shelves (denim A-line skirts seem hard to find this season). If they don't have it, ask if you can order it in store. Some retail places will give you free shipping if you order the item in store rather than at home. They will still ship the item to your home, though, so you don't have to go pick it up. Not positive if BR has this service, but I use it all the time at J. Crew. It's worth asking about.

Marianne, I have the Banana Republic skirt that Angie posted above and I love it. It's very flattering. I'm short (5'3") and my best skirt length is right above my knee, so I had to have it shortened. You may not need that, but I had BR do the alteration and it turned out great and only cost $10.00. This skirt will be great in the fall as well with boots.

Hi ladies,
I'd like to get a denim skirt - dark wash, A line, about knee-length. Any recommendations on where I should look? I don't have much time for shopping between work and kids, so it would be nice to narrow down the options.
Thanks!
