Thanks Carole and Karymk, for the recommendations. This post was actually a month old, and I never did keep any of those jeans. I did get the Resolution Slim Straights and the Resolution Skimmers both in a size smaller than shown here, and I love them.

I'll keep that in mind about the AG jeans and the J Crew Lookout's. I've had trouble with J.Crew jeans/pants not fitting well in the past (my flat butt) but I'll give the Lookout's a try next time I'm in the store.

Karie I think you might need to size down. How much stretch do either of these jeans have in them? I think you should look at some other brands too. Your perfect pair is out there, it just takes commitment and work (and a lot of mailing back and forth). I feel like if you found a skinny with more stretch to it they would hug your backside better and you'd get reduced creasing. I know you can't avoid all creasing, but you can limit it. Have you tried the AG jean in their 360 degree contour fabric? I have the Primas and I think they are worth the price. They never die and they don't bag out. It's a miracle fabric. They are mid rise so they are like Spanx too. For that matter, has anyone here tried Spanx jeans?

I also like the Jcrew Lookout High Rise because it hugs the back of the thigh nicely. My white pair shows the creases more though.

Remember; You have to kiss a lot of frogs until you meet the handsome prince.

The styles in the first set of pictures look too big, the Gaps in the second set look great...I'm thinking they will stretch out a little in the hops...don't you think. They look great!

Thanks everyone!
Ummlila, I agree, the darker ones look too big from the back. The lighter ones don't look much better, really.

Shiny, the lighter ones are more comfortable above the knee and the darker ones are more comfortable below the knee!

Laurel, I like them from the front but not from the back (both pairs). I agree about the pocket placement.

Daria, yes, #1 is supposed to be a skinny fit and #2 is meant to be straight.

Diane, I don't know what causes the creasing on the back of the jeans - maybe it's excess fabric? Or ill-fitting in the hips? The back creasing is worse on the second pair.

Tanya, I could alter the waistband on #2 but my main concern is that they need such a big tuck and the fabric won't lay flat, there will be some big, bulky tucks in the back.

Angie, I tried on two pairs in a smaller size yesterday, one fit in the waist and was tight in the hips, the other was tight in the waist and fit in the hips! The picture below is the pair that fit in the waist.

I think you look great in both pairs. I personally like that #3/4 is a tad loose.

Honestly I'd choose based on comfort. Which are more comfortable?

I like the first pair better, but neither pair looks like they fit you "just right"---If you are going with "skinny" from the knee down, I think they would look like a better fit if they were a bit snugger in the upper leg area---where you obviously have a bit of room. And, the pockets aren't the ultimate in flattery on the second pair---

I like the wash and the cut of #2 better as well. #1 looks like it's meant to be a bit skinnier?

Hmm, I think maybe #1 fits a little bit better than jeans #2. There is a tad more creasing at the back of your legs on #2.

I think #1 firs you better, though I like the wash and cut on #2 more. Is there a possibility of altering #2 at the waistband?

Pics 1 and 2 Loft Modern Skinny Ankle, my regular size, fit well in the waist and need no alteration, 92% cotton, 7% poly, 1% spandex

Pics 3 and 4 Gap Resolution Slim Straights, full length, one size up, fit big in the waist and need tucks in the waistband, 87% cotton, 12% poly, 1% spandex

I lightened the pics a bit since the jeans are dark. Which do you think fit better?

Be honest, and brutal if need be! If I should keep looking, I will. Thanks!

EDIT: If you scroll down, I added a pic of the smaller size of the Resolution Straights. Does the smaller size look better or too small? It's actually my regular size.
