Maybe I bought mine too small or with too much stretch .... hmmmm.</p> </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/denim-pencil-skirt-repurposed#post-1350268 Mon, 08 Sep 2014 16:31:20 +0000 KC Tomboy 1350268@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>I'm popping out of lurkdom today because it seems such a coincidence that Angie's post today was about denim pencil skirts, including ones with patches. &nbsp;I just finished repurposing a denim skirt (from thrift store) this weekend.<br />I took this Banana Republic denim pencil skirt and&nbsp;distressed it by cutting little holes randomly and then washing it to fray. &nbsp;I found a shirt with a boho vibe (also a thrift store purchase).&nbsp;&nbsp;I cut the shirt into patches, placing some on the underside of the holes and others on top of the denim. &nbsp;I lined the pockets with patches and embroidered a blanket stitch on the edges. &nbsp;I used a running stitch on the outside patches to simulate a Japanese-style mending stitch (I think it's called boro). &nbsp;Finally, I added trim from the shirt to the waistband.<br />This is similar to a skirt I saw at Anthropologie. &nbsp;I spent about $10 in materials and maybe 3 hours of time. &nbsp;I'm wearing it today with flip flops and a t-shirt because it's hot. &nbsp;I looking forward&nbsp;to wearing it with boots, tights and a sweater once it gets colder. &nbsp;</p> <p> </p>
