Alaskagirl, that's a good one too! I just hadn't considered denim skirts for a long time but the newer versions are so different from ones we've all worn in previous iterations. Like you, my opinion has definitely been changed by seeing Janet's and other members posts. Much like denim jackets which I had just consigned to the past, I started looking at them again with a fresh eye.

I have not been a denim skirt fan either but Janet's posts inspired me to try this RATE one from Guess:

Wendi1984, I agree that the released hem and, for me, the length helped take away that feeling that denim skirts were too much a part of the past, although for me it was the 1970s!

I recently bought the same one! There was only one in the store, and I was happy with the fit. Very cute! I think the fading and released hem help it not look like I'm wearing the same denim skirt I wore in the 90s. I think I'll wear it to work today!

I have up till now been totally anti-denim skirt -- for me anyway. However, having seen several forum members in longer versions, I decided to try this one from Target (always a good place to experiment!). It is absolutely perfect! I am generally a 6/8 -- right now a solid 8 in skirts and pants and this fit exactly true to size. In fact I didn't even try it on in the store--just held it up and brought it home to try under less disturbing lighting. It will even be ok if it shrinks a little. In any case, it's available online and in stores if anyone is looking for an under $30.00 denim skirt with a released hem. I'm actually going to trim a tiny bit around the frayed hem where some of the fraying seems too hang down too long for me.
I also brought home a Merona denim jacket the to try (another style which I've never liked on me) and I actually think it looks pretty good although I'm keeping the price tags on for now to compare with a couple of others. It's also available in white which might be useful. In addition (!), I brought home this Merona lyocell tunic which fits me perfectly in a medium -- on me it's a looser fit and much longer than on the model probably because I'm only 5'5" so it's much more what I think of as a true tunic length. In any case, that's my report from Target! I think online they're having a buy one get one 1/2 off promotion on women's clothing right now if anyone is interested.
