I have worn both matchy matchy when I'm feeling daring (the "texas tuxedo" as they say), but usually I wear mis-matched. A pale blue faded jacket with distressing over black or white jeans, for example.

Welcome Cassandra. I love denim and wear lots of it. I have seen all combinations of denim on denim outfits. Personally I do the same as Angie. I mismatch my denim. For example, I might wear my chambray denim shirt with dark denim jeans or dark denim skirt.

Welcome to the forum, Cassandra. There are no guidelines. All denim on denim combinations can be fashionable, hip and fun. It's usually easier to wear mismatched denims in one outfit.

I wear denim on denim, no problem. I mismatch my denims (I wear white jeans a lot), or match them in different weights.

Hello, I'm new around here too. Personally I don't do denim on denim unless it's blue over white for example but that's only because I can remember wearing double denim in the 80s!

Welcome, Cassandra! We are thrilled that you are here.
As to your question, I hope that Angie has an answer for you. Denim on denim that looks like a suit ( matching) has gotten such a bad rap that I would proceed with caution. It might be better to pair a blue denim piece with a different colored denim like black or white, unless you are a known trend setter. Then you can be fearless. Just make sure the jeans are something trendy like cropped flares or wide legged crops.

Hello, my name is Cassandra and I am new to this forum. I have always had a love for fashion and I'm excited to get started and talk to all of you. So, I have never been into a lot of denim in one outfit, jeans are enough denim for me. However, I see people wearing a denim jacket with jeans semi frequently. So I want to know what other people think, is denim on denim fashionable? If so, how much is too much, and should it be the same shade, or different?
