Would it work with the other things in your closet or would it look faded? It seems more 'rough around the edges' than your usual style, so are you comfortable with it? As far as the color, consider what you're going to wear it with. I was more focused on the shape. It is true I do incline more to darker denim washes as a rule (their 'dressier' look?) .
