LOL @ mrseccentric. I've been known to use a safety pin in place of a zipper pull. If your top or belt covers it, it works like a charm.

First off, have a wonderful time on both trips, Suz! You can never have enough denim IMHO and I love your new jacket and when it's closed, the style is just extraordinary and very unique! You've got stretch, scrunch and great color in the pieces so your "madness" is "brilliance."

And Wow, those heeled oxfords, they fit you so nicely. Congratulations on your purchases!

LOL, Steph! That is what i'm going to call it; my utility jacket!

Thank you everyone for the kind wishes and GREAT ideas. My problem styling the jacket is mainly that I have almost entirely denim bottoms!! (Especially for this casual Banff capsule). I do think I will get a lot of wear from it eventually (certainly its $7 worth) but maybe not right away. Unless you think I can successfully pull off denim with denim? What makes this work well, do you think? Anyone have inspiration? Never mind, I will start a new thread on that!

Manidipa, you're right - the jacket does work with the white jeans. So that, at least, is one possible pairing!

Manidipa, Sylvie, Steph, those are all fantastic ideas for the pull. Steph, you're right - the jeans go on and off without the darn zip anyway so I could just leave as is if I like. But even at a sale price they weren't cheap and I hate to have the risk that it might work its way down.

Thank you again, everyone, you are all such funds of information and delight!

Wow! Just fabulous all around! And the fit on those jeggings is totally killer, you look like you've been really working those legs ;)

re: zipper pull-yeah, go to a shoe repair of fabric/sewing store and they should be able to fix you up (if the store won't exchange). Although in the same situation i've been known to just put a safety pin in the pull's place, same difference and less hassle!

Or, as they are jeggings, just sew up the zipper and pull on and off. My jeggings don't have a zip, just a non-functional fly and functional button. I'm always reaching for the zip and realizing 'oh....'

Awesome haul Suz!! You'll kill em at Banff! steph

I think the jacket is fab, and I love the skirt and reversible pants! Rats on the disintegrating zipper, but I'm guessing that would be an easy thing for a tailor to replace?

I love the jacket--can't you just wear it collar up (unbuttoned) with pretty much everything :)?

If I understand correctly, the zipper pull broke off? You want to buy a reversible/flip over zipper pull.

http://www.therainshed.com/zippers.htm

If you find a fabric/sewing store that caters to the garment industry, they should stock them. Someone at the store or a tailor should be able to replace the pull on the zipper without replacing the whole zipper. They should have a special tool to remove and replace the zipper stops without damaging them. You could use needlenose pliers if you wanted to do it yourself, but it would be a finicky job.

(I know about this because I had a "broken" zipper on my rain coat. I took it into a fabric/craft supply store in NYC and the lady there replaced the pull in under a minute and charged me $3 )

Suz, that is just awesome! Reversible jeans?? AND a great fit? I'm over the moon for you! Pity about the zipper but certainly worth speaking to the store. Alternatively, if you can thrift one of those shopping bags that zip up into their own pocket, they usually have reversible zips and maybe a seamstress can put it in for you?

That jacket is going to be fabulous over your white jeans! Such a unique shape! And the skirt will be a workhorse, surely?

What great finds! My favorite is the jean jacket. It has that arty vibe that suits you so well. So does the purple side of your jeans. I hope that you can get the zipper fixed or replaced, even if you have to commit to one side only.

Suz, what is your eye not liking about the jean jacket? I love that collar style. I usually have the best success with higher (classic crew or very very slight scoop or slash) necklines. What have you tried? I'm in love with the jacket. If it would fit me, I would beg you to sell it to me!

Claire, that is correct; it has a different kind of toggle, and the toggle snapped into bits! Seriously...it just...fell apart! It's not that it came loose; it crunched apart! The weirdest thing.

And you have the greatest memory in the world. I do have a pair of black pants for winter (my only non-denim pants!!)

I am having some buyer's remorse about the jacket, having tried and failed to style it successfully this evening. But at a cost of $7 I can hang onto it and figure out ways to wear it eventually.

And tomorrow I am calling the store about the zipper! Fortunately, I can wear the pants anyway, it seems, but it would be much more convenient to be able to use the zip!

Come to think of it, zippers on reversible garments are a little different because they have to pivot completely to one side or the other, depending on which side you are using. Do you still have the toggle? If the store won't exchange, maybe a shoe/luggage repair would have the right tool to re-attach it.

You must have some black pants for winter, right? Or just the low-rise black waxed jeans from Krish?

Such a nice haul, Suz! That jacket is super cool and will work great with trousers due to a longer length. The skirt is a great basic. A new pair of premium denim is always a plus especially on sale and if it fits well. I would take it back and ask to exchange for a zipper: even for a final sale they should be responsible for the quality. I had it once with shoes; they were final sale but I found some defect and they took them back.

Totally sold on the jean jacket (Seduction does some great trendy pieces for smalllll sizes!), skirt, and blue jeans - I just can't really see the legging jean well in the pic! I hope you can get the zipper issues sorted.

Love the new pieces. I'm sure you can fashion something to replace the zipper pull if they won't replace it.

Suz, I love that denim jacket! Very fabulous. For the jeans, I would definitely see if the store will do anything. Often when something is defective, they get to send it back to the manufacturer and won't be out of pocket for it, so they will be way more flexible. If not, I've seen replacement zipper pulls at fabric stores. The link onto the part that does the zipping with a little metal jump ring. Would something like that work?

Thanks, Claire. The zip is an odd one, in parts (which is probably why it broke). It's essentially the toggle that came off. The zipper itself stays up just fine and can actually still be moved up and down (with considerable effort). Nonetheless, I don't think I should risk it. I might go back to the store and tell them even though it is no returns. Maybe they have another pair that size they could exchange for.

You are right that the jacket will work best with pants. Now, if only I had some non denim pants! LOL.

By the way, the white shirt is by Jackpot. I still don't own a BB shirt.

Ooooo! Nice haul! I like the funky new denim jacket on you. I think it will work really well with pants because of it's longer (non cropped) length. Awesome! The denim skirt looks perfect (I have several as well). I think the lighter wash will be different enough from your other one (as well as the shorter length). Perfect with those red flats. And your white BB (?) shirt can fill in for the elusive white denim jacket for now. The jegs are amazing! Lucky you were able to get them off again without resorting to scissors! Did the pull just snap off, or are the teeth jumping off track? I'd do whatever you can to keep the zip in the closed position if the latter is the case. You might be able to get a replacement toggle, but replacing a full zipper is a difficult and expensive repair. I think they're fun pants, even if you need to wait for cooler weather to wear them. I can't believe they're reversible!
