Lands' End Canvas line looks good! I get LE email updates all the time, because I buy most of my kids clothing from them, but I can't remember seeing the Canvas line. Is it brand new? Why aren't they advertising it more?

That denim jacket looks like a good option, Tricia!

Tricia, my current denim jacket is sort of that length on me. I notice it doesn't work that well with skirts or dresses but it seems to work fine with pants (though not tucked in like your sailor pants).

Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor loft often have really great petite denim jackets but usually not until spring. Gap (though I don't see one now) & Old Navy usually offer denim jackets in petite sizes:

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....=610900012

Another option is juniors type of stores that always offer "cropped" jackets. The length is usually perfect although the arms are always too tight for me!

I think you're probably right about not having to close it. That's a good point.

Doh! I'm the guilty one! I made the "boxy" comment.

I think the jacket looks much better in the picture with the dress, actually. I agree with Angie though (as if *my* agreeing with her somehow gives more weight to her comments - ha!). I think you could do with one that has a slimmer fit.

I'm very busty and to be honest, I don't generally judge a jacket by whether it can button up over my chest unless it's going to be my outermost layer or is something like a suit jacket that needs to be closed. If I bought jackets/cardigans based on them comfortably closing over my chest, I'd end up with things that are 3x too big in the shoulders, through the waist, back, etc.

Tricia, I feel your pain! I am also petite and had a very difficult time finding a denim jacket to fit. It has taken me about a year (and many returns), but I finally found one I love.

http://canvas.landsend.com/pp/.....038;sku_0=::AAP&CM_MERCH=IDX_00017__0000002217&origin=index

I am almost 5'3" and an inverted triangle like you, so you might find this one will work for you. I ordered a S and an XS and kept the XS. The extra small is 20 1/2" long from the shoulder seam. I normally wear a 4 or 6 top and the size chart says the XS is a 2-4 so you might want to size down. I am small busted so this one may not turn out to be the one for you, but it may be worth a try. The color is great and it's shaped very nicely at the waist and it has spandex, so the shoulder area can be comfortable. Also, you may want to think about whether it really has to fit comfortably buttoned up. Some of the other busty women have ended up purchasing jackets that might be tight across the chest when closed, but could get the waist definition they need and just wear the jacket open all the time. Maybe Angie will comment on this.

If you go on the site and sign up for email, you will get great deals in the mail. Lots of free shipping opportunities and periodically 20 or 25% off. Also you can return items to Sears so you won't have to pay return shipping.

I'm happy I held out for the right one, but it can be a frustrating process, good luck!

I am really liking dresses lately, but I have a grand total of two, and one of them I bought on Saturday. That's definitely something I'm going to be getting more of!

Do you have any suggestions on a short, fitted denim jacket that will be short enough for 5'2" me?

Thanks, Tricia. That really helped. You could do with a cheekier denim jacket. That spells short and tight. Does that make sense?

I think I'm too busty for a turtleneck, though.

I'll try a photo of the jacket with a regular pair of pants or a skirt - it's fairly cropped already, though. I think it looks off because of the high-waisted pants.

I think the jacket should be fine with the right pants.
I went back and found your photostream of the pants outfits and didn't read others comments, but here is my observation.
You don't want to wear anything that falls below (or at least not much below) the waistliine of those pants. And you want a fitted top. The best shot was the white blouse tucked in, and the second best was a raspberry colored sweater vest (?) (I can't remember it exactly)
I think someone earlier had suggested a turtleneck and a short cropped sweater or jacket- it seems like this would be a great look for these pants- you want fitted around your waist and then pull the eye upward to balance with the wide leg of the pants (creating a visual hourglass- if that makes any sense)
I wouldn't ditch the pants yet- I think they have possibilities.

I am far from an expert but feel the high waist of the trousers is altering the proportions of the jacket. How does it look with the top untucked?

My hunch is the jacket is a little long for your petite frame, I think a more cropped jacket may be more flattering.

I didn't have a chance to post on the trouser thread but I do really like them.

I posted this pic last night when I was looking for help with the pants, but someone's comment on that post made me wonder. I just bought this denim jacket on Sunday. It's a medium - the size small nipped in more at the waist, but didn't accommodate "the girls." This one didn't feel baggy in the waist, but looking at the picture I'm not sure. It might be hard to tell in this photo, but is the shape OK?

Sorry for the terrible picture - my husband is getting really sick of taking so many outfit pictures of me!
