Thanks Emily. I do have to find a pair, but I think I need to try some new ressources because looking at my usual places doesn't pay off. I could do casual trousers, but I have the same fit problems there. I'm already wearing my skirts a lot, but that is only possible because it hasn't been very cold so far.

Thanks Beth Ann. I've been to the Levi's store here in Berlin and no luck. But maybe I didn't have the best SA. We don't have BR here, I'd have to order those online.

I have hard-won empathy for your pants plight.

I had good luck with Levi's mid-rise skinnies -- they're closer to a slim straight leg than a jegging and, while I wish the pockets were closer together, they're a great shape and are simple. I also wonder if Banana Republic might work for you. I could see you in the cream ones showing up all over the forum.

Ack! Sounds like it is time to step up the pants search. Could you expand past jeans to include casual trousers and the like? Maybe bump some skirts up to more regular rotation in the meantime?

Thanks Diana. They don't have the same ones I have any more - I've tried the new ones, but they changed the cut so that now the legs are much to narrow for me. I don't think the others are available anymore either. I don't own any premium denim and the cheaper brands aren't very consistent with their cuts and names.

Thanks Diane. :)

Thanks Thistle! And yes, I am in Europe. So you're right that most brand recommendations won't help much if they aren't available in Germany or at least the EU.

Thanks E! I think if I did that I'd have my minimal closet. :D

Ugh, I know what you mean! I was just thinking of doing an exercise where I literally divide my clothes up by how well they actually fit, but I'm afraid I'll be traumatised by how few are in the 'perfect' pile. Especially trousers.

I feel you pain. You are talking to a confessed mom jean wearer!

I beleive you are in Europe, so I may not be able to help you with brands. I like straight legs and high rise jeans. Yes, these can boarder into frump territory, but so be it. I want jeans that I want!

I have found found Kut jeans work very well. As do Ralph Lauren and Talbots. I have heard Gloria Vanderbuilt work too. Not quite the premium denim many others love, but that's okay

Oh no! I feel your pain. I hate shopping for jeans. Diana's idea is good to try to duplicate.

Can you just duplicate the favorite pair? Maybe in a different wash or color.

Another option (but requires some effort, and not guaranteed) is to troll eBay for the EXACT SAME THING as your old, worn out pairs, if you still like the fit. I just replaced a dead 5+ year old pair of bootcuts with the exact same (long discontinued) style, new dead stock from eBay.

I realised some weeks ago that I have a bit of a pants dilemma...

Looking into my wardrobe after laundry day you should think I have enough pants, but sadly that's not the case.

Because when you look closely you see that I have:

3 pairs that are too big (and not in a fashionable way)

2 pairs of skinny jeans I never wear (because of fit and color)

1 pair of almost done in bootcut jeans I only wear at home

2 pairs of nicer bootcut jeans I can't wear at the moment because of the weather and my shoes

3 pairs of straight legs of which two pairs are just plain worn out

This leaves me with exactly ONE pair of pants at the moment that I feel great in. The thing is that I absolutely hate pants shopping and even though I have been searching all over the place for the last two months I didn't find one acceptable pair. I'm slowly getting desperate (and feeling very frumpy in my worn out baggy pants).

The problem is that I want a slim leg that is not painted on, enough room for my booty (so high rise in the back) AND back pockets that aren't too high or wide apart. Seems like the impossible thing.
