I was a big fan of their Zelda fit bootcut jeans, but they've since changed the fabrication to include more poly. :/ I wear the Zelda as a low-rise hip-hugger (I'm a rectangle/apple but mid-rise just gives me more visible muffin top) so you might try the Stella fit. I've noticed that the basic non-trendy, non-distressed denim is often only available in-store and not online.

I decided to try the BF jeans, since I figured those would have less stretch and be more forgiving. The fit was pretty good. I am not sure I can do the holes. But I am also wondering how practical the short rolled length is in my climate. They are not long enough to wear unrolled so they don't work for cold weather at all. I do wear denim clams in the summer but I am not sure about looser fit, longer denim in the summer heat. We don't have a lot of transitional weather here. Any thoughts Suz? You know the climate I'm talking about.

The coupon is for 10 days only. There's lots of deals in store too of the buy one, get one 50% category. A lot of the denim is distressed, so probably not appropriate even at my super-casual office where just about anything goes.

Jules, I don't know about the denim. But how long is the coupon good for? They do have nice pleather jackets (ClearlyClaire has one). For the fall, I mean.

I'll be honest, I never had much luck at Express and was a little surprised that Angie was such a fan. I don't think their cuts flatter those of us who have lumps and bumps, and like you I don't like most of their fabrications, they are very poly-heavy. It's been a while since I've been a express size, so I can't speak to the recent denim. But it never hurts to try something on, right?

An Express store opened near my office. They're quite new in Canada I believe. They were giving out $25 off $50 purchase coupons so of course I am drawn in. However, I'm not loving the stuff at first glance. A lot of bright solids which are hard on me. Short shorts & skirts, thin t shirts which tend not to flatter my belly. Basically it seemed very youthful (and I do shop at Joe Fresh and H&M).
I know the dress pants are Angie-approved but I have poison eye/touch for thick poly-type fabrications, plus it seemed like a very limited selection (not interested in black this time of year...)
So I'm left wondering if I should bother trying on any denim? Is it totally hopeless for a lumpy/bumpy size 12 or worth a try? Thoughts? Any other suggestions?
