I would refer to joggers as image #1.
Sweats are image #2 and track pants are image #3.
In my opinion. I think sweats are much loser than joggers and joggers are a bit more stylish. Track pants are usually not cinched at the ankles in my opinion and used for more team sports while leggings or sweats might be found more at the gym. Joggers can be for working out OR fashion...

Track pants don't have the elastic on the bottom, do they? I always thought of them as having straight legs. But then, track pants as a term aren't used that much in the US - I think it's more of a UK/Commonwealth phrase.

I don't use the term 'joggers'.
I wear my 'track-pants' around the home or out walking the dog.
I wear tights or leggings to the Gym for workouts.

Ok, regarding my post about joggers and track pants some of you seem to have a clear definition of each. I am a bit confused. What kind are the kind you would actually wear for sports --activities, running, playing basketball, tennis or whatever-like sports just for fun and exercise, not like on a team. Some are like sweat pants, others have stripes, some have wide elastic bands, some have draw strings, ect. But all fit tighter, are not baggy, all are stretchy and have banded bottoms. They are mostly cotton and spandex or cotton poly spandex, etc.

Then there are the ones made of woven fabrics with some sort of elastic waists and elastic ankles. These are the ones that are sometimes shown with footwear other than sneakers, and mostly heels or such. These are the ones I mostly do not know how to style, and do not particularly like. I have a pair that are called cargo joggers that are great though. They fit more like tighter BF jeans and are 100% cotton, have low waist band and zipper fly, and elastic band ankles.

Seems like everything with the elastic ankles are called either joggers or track pants, and the terms are used interchangeably. Although I think the term track pants is used less now, right?
