One more vote for classic. I love the versatility of classic black, especially for travel. Classic black is appropriate at any venue.

I was going to vote rustic, but after reading the responses, I can see the wisdom of the classic black. Mr. SF and my brother have the classic black, which is perfect for them.
I have the rustic brown, which works perfectly for me.

I think it’s a personal thing! DS#2 invested in a pair of Blundstones last winter, and to some extent his choice was determined by his size (men’s 13). He ended up with the brown rustic. I think they are perfect for him and his style, and the brown patina perfectly bookends his curly brown hair and beard with red and blonde highlights.

If Bludstones worked for me, I’d go with the most traditional/classic black available.

For you I’m thinking #1. The rustic reads as charcoal grey, and perhaps not as versatile as classic black? As you say, Bludstones get a little roughed up with wear anyway. It’s a part of their charm.

Thanks, this is very helpful! My initial thought when I first added these to my wishlist in the spring was to go with the classic black leather because it works with almost everything for me and wears down to a nice patina after a few seasons anyway. Then, looking at them again the past couple of days I began to worry that the solid black is visually boring and the rustic version might provide more interest. But you all have convinced me to go with my gut -- and with what I know from experience works! Now, fingers crossed the lug sole model fits, otherwise I'll do an exact dupe of my old, less chunky pair. :)

I vote classic black. If the new shoes will have the same longevity as the old pair getting them in a classic will work well in the long term because classics never date style wise.

I have a pair of the almond toe and the rounded toe and they are equally excellent btw. The rustic will always look a bit more casual if that makes sense. Aesthetically I like the almond toe for me. Either would be a winner.

I lean to the classic in that I think it would be easier to maintain in the long term. But I don't think you can really go too far wrong:)

Same, I like both. Do you feel a lean toward one or the other? FWIW, the lug feels simultaneously more contemporary/fresh, and more masculine, to me, than the classic. A good winter boot. The classic appears more versatile. I'm interested to see where this thread goes.

My faithful Blundstones, now 8 years old (the third Find below), are nearing the end of their useful life. The inner lining/stitching has started to rub my feet the wrong way (literally!) and give me blisters. I really like the look of the newer lug-sole model and am keen to try a pair for the fall, but I'm hung up on which black to order -- the classic or the "rustic"? I like both for different reasons... What say you, YLF?
