I have "hotel pillows" from an upscale hotel chain and they are lovely. I am using quotes because I didn't steal them - one of my friends is partners with a fellow who owns a hotel chain and he gets a good deal on them and I got them through him

We use foam pillows because I find them the most comfortable. I bought some tempur pedic foam pillows in the "classic" pillow shape (not the sloping one) and spent $70 each on them 13 years ago. It was a fortune for me at the time but one husband, two kids and several house moves later, we still use them. They are great with a silk pillowcase on top too. Very luxurious. I have bought several foam pillows from other brands for my kids and guest rooms but nothing compares to the quality of the Tempur Pedic one. I would stalk eBay to find a replacement if I ever need one, they are so awesome.

Reading along with interest.

Why are pillows so difficult? I swear we must have at least a couple dozen pillows in our house (which come in handy when we have a house full of weekend guests). I like a *smooshy* pillow -- I hate big firm ones. My husband laughs at me when we stay in a hotel and I have to try out every single pillow to see if there is one that won't give me a crick in my neck.

My absolute favorite pillow, which has me ridiculously smitten every single night, is a shredded latex one from Savvy Rest. I always tell people about this one! My husband and I bought two queen-sized pillows after the salesperson told us we could remove enough filling to make a third pillow. We had an extra zip case, so we did make a third pillow! Also, my pillow has slightly less stuffing than my husband's. I flip, smoosh, and punch mine each night before bed to get the perfect setting. HEAVEN!

ETA: I had a Tempurpedic pillow for a couple of years and did not like it.

I tired soooo many pillows in my quest for one that worked for me. And I am also allergic to down and feathers, so those were out. The guest room is now full of pillows. They were either too hard or too soft, and either gave me headaches and neck cramps.

I eventually found a latex one and it has been excellent. I also keep two Target pillows around to plump if I need extra support. We bought their field rest down alternative. DH loves them, but I needed more support.

I have had these pillows for years and they are still in excellent shape. I had to replace my husbands pillows a few months a go and order them for him and he love them. I purchase their pillow covers which really helps the pillow longevity.

Have you tried using an allergen reducer as well? I normally use a foam pillow I found a TJ Maxx.

My DH has allergies and asthma, so I have always bought down-alternative pillows. They always seem to wear out really quickly. Does anyone have a recommendation for good non-down pillows? I am not opposed to spending a bit more $ if they are actually worth it.
