My husband or a friend would do the regrowth for me every 6 weeks. Now that the regrowth is significantly more gray my hairdresser does it. She had told me I was doing fine by myself and that she'd tell me when I needed to let her take over. That happened a couple of years ago. Once every three months I have what's called a partial foil, having the top layers around my head highlighted. This camouflages any discrepancy (horizontal stripes where the color is slightly different from touch-up to touch-up) and saves me a humongous heap of money.</p> <p>I used to have my roots done at the salon too, religiously and at very nice salons with color professionals. With very light blonde it seems nigh to impossible to get the color absolutely perfectly even every time.
