I have this concept of "play clothes", which that it's no big deal if the piece destroyed. None of these pieces cost more than $30 when I bought them. The most expensive thing I am wearing are the shoes. They were a splurge but I bought them at Nordstrom Rack on sale -- they have been loved a lot too. And each item compliments the others.  I love what you said about the blue of the top. i always think of it as a smoky blue, and it is one of my absolute favourite shades in the world for exactly the reasons you give. Perfect example of the response you left on lyn's thread about rude comments - this IS dressing with care. I especially love the fact the skirt is a) from 'plain' H&M, and b) so 'old' but will keep going strong for a long time. Then I realized the reason why -- I'm short-waisted.  Play around with thick and thin ones, belting high and low until you find your sweet spot. It's a lovely shade of smokey blue with sequin and bugle beads. I usually wear this with a black bottom and a black sweater (nice and boring for when you're working). Today I decided that I could pair sparkle and print in the same outfit to meet a colleague for lunch. The skirt is a dream -- I picked it up from H&M about 7 years ago (has it really been that long????!) I love the graphic floral pattern, and the full swishy skirt. I thought it looked sweet yet modern paired with the black cardi and tee. I have pictures with and without the cardi -- but I wore it because it's about 70 degrees today and this looks so much more "finished"  to me with the black cardi.   I love this shade of blue with black because the blue is so amorphous that it's difficult to tell what shade it truly is (gray or lavender would be valid choices) and the black on the other hand is so severe and definite that it creates a nice contrast.  To recap I am wearing: <ul> <li>black cardi -August Silk </li> <li>Sequin smoke blue tee - Banana Republic </li> <li>b/w skirt - H&M </li> <li>Ballet flats - Vera Wang Lavender</li> </ul> Are you shy about pairing sequin and print?
