My black winter coat and trench were purchased in 2007, and am myself still not tired of them-but they started to show some wear of course, so I updated them both this winter&nbsp;but&nbsp;kept the originals, for not so dressy days, too:-). If only I could find something that worked like that for me! Most hats slide right off my head because they are too big! I try to find coats with hoods. If I have to shovel snow (that's not really an if, it's a given ) I wear a fleece lined hat with tie down ear flaps or a balaclava! That way nothing slides off. The same for outdoor sports. I just love this as a simple strong color statement. The focus is completely on the charcoal gray which you wear very well. The denim and black are nicely layered supporting neutrals. I like the beanie, but I do miss the cheery bright red cap. However I am drawn to the clean simple gray blue black palette. Interesting to see that the red belt, such a very cute detail, had to go as soon as pants became skinnies. It's understandable. I would have made the same choice.&nbsp;Now that the straighter leg look is coming back, will the red belt reappear? &nbsp;I like the 2015 edition, but it feels like there is something missing... a cocktail ring? Gloves? Red scarf?<br />I agree about the beanie being a good head cover in the cold. However, where I live, imagine, it's far from enough. The best option is a lined hat with ears. I loved that red hat, but it's not been out this winter at all - as it is not covering my ears, it is not practical in harsh winter we've had and it's squashing my hair.</p> <p>I've actually been on a mission to find the answer to the winter head covering problem for a while and beanie turned out to be the perfect answer. It keeps my head and&nbsp;ears warm, it does not ruin the hairstyle by&nbsp;squashing my bangs&nbsp;(which every other type of hat did) and I can also stack biking helmet on top of it without causing hair disasters. Win-win.</p> <p>All other pieces from the outfit are old. <b><a rel="nofollow" href="http://tallandpearfect.lookfab.com/post/day-5-this-time-last-year-i-wore-edition-2014">Last year</a></b> I tried BF jeans in an attempt to make them my new skinnies, but since my only pair has been abandoned due to change in&nbsp;weight and I haven't replaced them, skinnies remain the 'official' jeans style&nbsp;for Day 5 outfit because I wear them almost exclusively. Black turtleneck is my winter staple and this MEXX coat is several years old and&nbsp;I'm still nowhere near&nbsp;being tired of it.&nbsp;</p> <p>This is the&nbsp;last post which&nbsp;compares my current with my older style preferences. It's funny, I remember being at a happy place at all previous stages, yet&nbsp;I personally like this year's outfits the most.
