Pretty dress. I vote keep wearing the belt until you tire of the print. I personally tire of prints (even stripes) fairly quickly myself.

It's lovely fabric and a simple, classic style that suits you, so I think alerations would be the way to go.
Coincidentally, I saw a skirt in a similar stripe today. It had a wide black waistband - that would be another option for you.

oh my - glad you managed after the knock. The gift card is a great way to apologize.

I like the dress a lot and it seems like it would be in style for many years, but let's hear the others

I think it may be simple enogh for me to attempt on my own since the zipper is in the back not the side. This dress has a funny story... when trying to buy it the first time I got knocked in the head by a falling store fixture and went home with a bump and nausea. Store gave me an apology gift card and I sent my husband back for the dress...

Lovely dress! I really like it, but I am uncertain the cost of alterations. Not sure it would be a good value proposition.

I think it will be in style for many years to come. What type of fabric is it? Could you alter it yourself? A tuck here, a tuck there...

Nice frock! I would get a price on the tailoring, and make a decision based on that.

I've worn this dress a few times in Fall and Winter with an apple green jacket and as a skirt with a darker green sweater and jean jacket.

It is a size 8 and is designated for the alter pile, as I love it so much. The belt is covering ups the inches that it is loose! I played with just taking up the shoulders as well and then it would work beautifully. My question for the wisdom of the most supportive women on the web, Is this dress going to remain in style long enough for it to be worth tailoring ? I am not married to the idea of keeping it...
