@ joy - Not vintage. I don’t know how to link, but it’s a sheath dress from banana republic - beautiful construction, lined and fits me well except for those darts.
However, yes it is pointy on by body
Back it goes.
Thank you ladies

Thank you for the chuckle! My first thought was to wonder where you even find a garment with darts these days. Is it a vintage piece from the 50's when those cone shaped bras were stylish?

@ Angie - thank you. This is my second dress with same issue. First one I bought at deep discount so kept it to wear with topper

@ The cat - it makes everything pointy- like nipples showing (when it’s not)

@ chris987 - I ironed it- helped some but now that I have noticed it, I will be conscious about it forever

@ Ginger- thank you. I think they are sewn higher up and ends farther in than most of my other dresses - back it goes. It will be hard to alter considering it’s lined.

I know what you're talking about. In sewing it usually happens when the dart is too long; a proper dart should end no closer than 1" from the bust point even in something highly tailored. So that may be a possibility. Depending on the fabric, you might be able to have a tailor redo the dart... but there's the risk that the old stitching and press lines will still show.

It's also possible that it's just too tight. A dart is a point, by its nature, and if it's under too much strain it can be accentuated. The type and color of fabric affect this as well.

I have this issue sometimes. Partly it's because I have a bust point that's naturally a little lower than the fit model's. There's enough room for me, but I'm just a little lower. (Probably because I have a small band and larger cup size.) I know my bras fit fine, so I just have to decide how obvious it is and how much it bothers me. This is often one of those things that are really obvious to us in the mirror, but invisible to virtually everyone else. If you're having this issue in a lot of items, do make sure that your bras are well fitted and not worn out. It may be worth it to go bra shopping and just try on new things, with one of the offending shirts. It would be an interesting experiment, if nothing else!

Pressing using a damp cloth between the iron and the garment might help soften the sharpness especially if it's a natural fiber. I use an old face cloth for this . If it's a synthetic it might not work as well. Give it a try you don't have much to lose. Just don't make the iron any hotter than it should normally be for the fabric

Hmmm. I'm not sure, Stuti. My darts are behaving. Perhaps the sewers can shed some light.

Hi all,
It’s been a long time I posted. Life I guess.
I am wondering if it’s just me or anyone else have issue with the darts at bust - making you look as if you are freezing - I am sure you all got the point.
Is there a way to fix it by pressing only or don’t buy such item even when it’s perfect in every other way?
