Oh yes, Maya, I will definitely have to try with white jeans! Now I am glad I have a pair

I had another thought about this: If you wear the buttermilk boots with white jeans, it will look springier AND there would be less contrast. They totally work with dark jeans, but it's another option that really complements the season.

I'm happy you approve of the buttermilk! Again, scary to wear a light color but it will be really nice for the warmer months.

Tam -- I do think the perforations will make the boots cooler. Not significantly, but there's quite a few holes in the shaft

Louise -- I agree, the darker color is heavy (although the boot itself is light).

Julie -- Will give bermudas and leggings a shot!

Isabel -- Twins, how funny! So you are deciding between the buttermilk and tan? I like the tan too but it wasn't in my size. And buttermilk is a sunny California kind of color, I think Can't wait to see how you style it.

Kim -- yes, the first color is the buttermilk. Interesting idea with the fishnets; I think I may invest in a denim skirt and see what I come up with. Will definitely try with clams and post photos.

san -- Thanks for the compliment :); believe me, when it gets really warm out the sandals are coming out, so the boots will be transitional for me. What a nice memory about your dad. Do you have any light-colored cowboy boots?

Maya -- yes, that's exactly it--just feels off. But I guess like any new style one just has to get your eyes used to it.

medusa -- I think they will be a keeper!

Lee -- A floral sundress would be really pretty; I'll keep my eye out on one (don't have any... yet!)

Sara -- I think the light boot will fill a gap in my boot wardrobe, for sure. Right now, I am kind of sick of seeing my darker boots all the time

Go for the buttermilk and have a definitely springy pair

I'll bet you can still find days to wear your other darker boots (black, blue, etc.) when you want the bookend look.

I know what you mean Cathy. I almost bought some cream flats a couple of days ago (well, I did buy them, but ended up returning them for other reasons). But when I got them on at home it just felt so off to me. I'm just not used to seeing myself in light footwear.

The reason I bought the cream flats, btw, was because I was almost going to get the Blowfish Whence boots but it turns out they were a 7.5 instead of a 7 and just put in the wrong section. I was so disappointed. I didn't bother trying them on because I had tried them on before and already knew what size I needed. Anyway, the point is that the Whence boots I almost bought were very similar in color to your buttermilk boots and even though it was a little weird to see light footwear on me, I felt like it lightened up my whole outfit and looked really nice with black.

The light buttermilk color is very pretty for warm weather. I love it. You are young and cute so I think you can wear your boots with just about anything. You also have good judgement, I'm sure, on whether an outfit is working or not.
I do remember though that you have very pretty legs so I'm not sure you should keep them covered all spring and summer.
My dear Dad who passed away in Oct was a cowboy from Texas. He always wore his boots and hat. Now that her has passed away I have a definate desire to wear cowgirl boots. One thing I remember about my Dad's boots is that they were always light in color. Never were they dark brown or black, always tan, natural or something like that.

love the first color (is that the buttermilk?) beautiful on you.
As far as the styling options, you will have to try some stuff out and post pictures. I would think you want a softer color legging (like brown) or even black fishnets wouldn't be as stark as black leggings. try it with clams and let us see!

This is too funny. I have the same dilemma with the same boot !! : )

I LOVE the buttermilk. ( I am leaning toward the tan for myself because I am in MA so the buttermilk would get very little wear - so I will enjoy them vicariously through you.

I don't know how it would look on you with shorts or clamdiggers, but I have seen it in magazines and catalogues and I like the look.

Yum, buttermilk! So do you think the ventilation bits actually make them cooler to wear Cathy? That would be...welll.....cool! I think they would totally work with dark leggings....give it a shot anyway!

Oh, good. I like the lighter color, but normally wear dark shoes (because of my hair), and that much of a light color is a bit out of my comfort zone.

Would it look weird with dark leggings tucked in? I'm so used to being monochromatic on the bottom :/

Buttermilk is springier and has a "nude" tone to it which is nice with bare legs. I don't think the bookending thing is a hard and fast rule.

As many of you know, I love boots and want to wear them for as long as possible Given our warm weather lately, I've been looking for a lightweight, spring-y pair. I decided to give the perforated Frye Carsons a shot (on sale at Endless, + 20% Bing cashback).

The boots are soooo comfy and the leather very soft and lightweight. Having problems with the color though. I'm aware of the bookending thing for footwear and hair, but we don't always need to do this. So anyhow, do you like the lighter boots (buttermilk) or dark brown boots better?

Beware: really crappy photos coming up -- taking flash photos using a mirror is not so good. You can tell how desparately I need feedback :)

Buttermilk:
http://i617.photobucket.com/al.....190009.jpg

Dark brown:
http://i617.photobucket.com/al.....190010.jpg

I would have liked tan instead of dark brown, but they were out of my size.

Another question -- can I pull off these boots with bermuda shorts/clams, or would that look dorky?

Thanks again -- you guys are the best!
