Thanks ladies! I didn't respond quickly becauseI was travelling, but I appreciate the feedback. I did buy the booties and tried them with jeans and a black top. With the right accessories, they look very polished and compliment the outfit well. I don't have a lot of brown shoes, so these are perfect. As a plus, Macy's was having some sales so the salesman and I mixed deals and I got those boots plus a pair of red heels (originally $75) for $80 total! Unbelieveable.

Franco Sarto uses the most beautiful browns for his boots and shoes; I am always more drawn to them instead of the blacks when I see them. They just look richer!

That said, I always dither on getting black or brown, because I'm not good at mixing the two yet. Do you have any browns at all in your closet? Are the other colors in your closet ones that will work with browns and blacks? I have ended up building a base of browns and blacks separately, and I switch between the two.

I vote brown! Those are amazingly chic, and look like they could really easily be dressed up or down. Very smart indeed.

I'm a big believer in neutrals, and a brown bootie is timeless and trend-proof in my opinion! However, something to consider is how many brown shoes do you have? You don't want a closet of clones!

What color pants will you be wearing? It seems to be that if the boots coordinate with the pants and the pants with the top, even if the top is black, you should be okay. With jeans, I think you'd need a color top that coordinates the black jacket and the brown boots But I freely admit that I'm no color expert so hopefully others will chime in.

P.S. It is available in black, so I can get that if the brown is a bad idea.

I had this bootie http://www1.macys.com/catalog/.....sn_results on my foot today and loved it. I'm from Canada, so if I want to pick it up from Macy's while I'm in the US, I need to get it tomorrow.

I like the look of dark brown footwear a lot more than black, but I need to be sure that this will look good with black tops/jackets/coats, because I wear a lot of that. I'm a fan of mixing brown and black, somehow I like the non-matchy-matchy look of it, but will this work? I only have the budget for one pair of booties this winter and I'll be wearing them all the time in smart casual outfits (my uniform for going out!).

Input would be VERY helpful, thanks in advance!
