Diane, thank you for such lovely feedback! I love burgundy. But tend to wear so much of it and plum in the fall/winter, that by the time March hits I am ready for endless amounts of navy blue. HA!

AM I'm pretty sure you were hoping for a plum lippy in those photos. You don't have to deny it. HA!

...I see that you haven't added the plum back into the equation. I've read your excuses. Do you see some of the comments about how you look good in burgundy. Hmmm. Could they want to see you in a plum lippy? Hmmm. And the joke continues!

Those are great colours on you! I feel as others do, that I have a slight preference for the last couple of photos (you're very photogenic btw). You look great in burgundy.

My final thoughts on the lipstick and coloring experiment:

The experiment was a good challenge for me. I learned that I am pretty neutral. I prefer cooler, deeper colors, and I will continue to wear them in both lipstick and clothes. :D

However, it's good to see that I can wear warmer colors and look fine in them. They're not my first choice or preference. But it's good to see it. And even if a color isn't superb on me, I'm gonna wear it if I feel like it.

What this experiment really taught me?? I think I'm moving more towards day looks... Maybe? I don't know. I love my lipsticks. But I don't really wear statement lipsticks like I once did. And that's okay!

Aida, I think I waver between a Dark Autumn and Dark Winter -- I can and do wear mostly cooler colors as long, as they are deep enough. And thank you for the reminder about wearing what I like. BECAUSE I really don't like autumn colors, they make my stomach kinda go "eww." But seeing them on me was a nice little "hey you can wear them and it's good!"

Gennifyr, thanks for the post!

Alasse, I love deep hot orange! I've worn it throughout the years with wild abandon hehe

Summer, thank you. I think I slightly prefer the no bronzer/burgandy. BUT I also love a good tan in the summer. Psychologically I prefer cooler colors. And I'll probably still wear them. The Autumn colors get too spicy after a while for me. But it's good to see that warmer colors flatter me too.

unfrumped, teal is one of those colors I see and think, gosh it's such a great color! But I don't like to wear it at all. I think there's something about how a color makes us feel...and teal doesn't make me feel happy or energized. So perhaps that's why I shy away from teal? But as for claiming a season: I think you're totally right. I see women who spend so much time and energy, worrying and fretting about finding their perfect shade of X, what season they are -- they miss out on the joy of fashion! I don't really choose most autumnal colors -- I like the cooler colors. And I like to choose what strikes my fancy: I enjoy experimenting and don't want to get locked-in to anything specific that causes analysis-paralysis.

tr3kkie, you are a darling!! My skin was pretty broken out, and I'm in "repair" mode. So I appreciate hearing that. :)

AM, Ha! You witty thing, you! You don't like my powdered tan? Well, didn't you know I'm Sophia Loren's granddaughter? (JK! JK!) I think my pale complexion is nice enough. I do like tans. But it does lower my contrast level and takes away some of the facial contours I have.

And why didn't you include #10 - that deep rich plum in these?? Huh? I want to know. It looked fabulous... I'm telling you, it was great. Just kidding. Of these, I prefer the 3,4,5,6. No time to read post and comment so I just skipped right to the pictures. This time change thing has me exhausted. Feeling very lazy...

Good job! burgundy top does look great. You know, burgundy and teal work on lots of color types because they both can be found in balanced color versions, or could be in versions that are skewed much cooler or warmer.
Sometimes it's tempting to want to nail down a color type or season, but then you can box yourself in and not even try items because you think they are not your season, when in fact garments and even makeup often "read" very differently than we think --of course the color label or name often means nothing at all, but even within that, can vary depending on light, other colors used in combination, fabric texture.
This gives you a bit of focus and can save time, but still, experiment with things (especially things you can return).

Very interesting, Keturah. You look lovely in both sets of colours, but I have a slight preference for the second set: no bronzer and burgundy top. This is a lovely, natural look for you.

Your comment about these warmer colours minimising your under- eye circles is very enlightening, suggesting that you have, indeed, found the perfect colours for you.

Oooh love it! Definitely what I was thinking in terms of your coloring. The makeup in the first set is gorgeous, and works really nicely with the orange top. Perhaps your more orangey lippies will work nicely with that makeup base. The second also looks good, a bit more high contrast and dramatic.

I'm also a (mostly) Deep Autumn and my primary neutrals are white, black, and gray; I only really wear brown in the occasional leather, light shades of tan, and taupe. So don't feel like you have to wear brown if you don't like it -- Just because it's a good color for you doesn't mean you have to wear it

Meredith, how fun! I did see her lipstick draping post which is partly why I posted lipstick photos to begin with. But I didn't see the detailed list! Funny thing, I have 3 of the lipsticks she posted. And all 3 are colors I ran out of and have repurchased over and over again until they discontinued it or I tried other colors for fun. Some of the colors still seem a bit earthy or brown to me. But I'll have to try them on now and see if that's really true.

BettyCrocker, I love your username! Had to tell you that. Thank you for the feedback. The results surprised me! I was expecting to look washed out or for all the red areas on my face to stand out. Not so!

jackiec, thank you! I think on closer inspection the burgandy is the better color. But I still love orange haha I'm glad I took the time to try on lipsticks and do a little experimenting.

I will also add just by doing warmer colors, my dark purplish under eye circles vanished. Without using concealer of any kind. :o

Also...I cannot say I will ever love brown clothing. Shoes sure, but not an entire pantsuit or jacket ensemble. I still adore black and - richer vibrant navy. But...I am realizing I can be more open about colors.

I'm starting a new thread because the lipstick question I asked everyone'so advice on took me in a new direction!

The shades that got the most love from all of on me were
- medium intensity
- more neutral, not too warm and not too cool
- most loved mid intensity warm shades and pinks
- super bright reds and super dRk colors (like the maroon/plum), regardless of warm/cool undertone were mixed, some loving them because it brought out my eye color and others thought they overwhelmed me.

Psycadelicate said she would actually place me as a Dark Autumn. Well...after reviewing some of the colors I love and the old vintage stars I adore (Eva Mendes, Rita Hayworth, Sophia Loren--they are Autumns), and thinking about my long long line of red headed and auburn relatives: I decided to try a Dark Autumn makeup.
I figured while I'm sorting through my makeup, why not?

And as a Sidenote: the one time I got a raving unsolicited compliment from a stranger was the day I was wearing almost the same exact makeup I am in these photos.

So... I give you my interpretation of Deep/Dark Autumn.

Seeing as how I was also born in November, I find this all interesting. I also think I'm just tired of the same Ol' colors and ready to try something new.

Photos 1-3 are worn with bronzer. Lots of it. Also, the blush is a deep burgandy dusted with a peachy Orgasm dupe over top. And I am wearing my very favorite blouse in my very favorite shade of orange.

Photos 4-6 are without bronzer and lipstick, same eye makeup, and a warmer blush that looks berry/mauve in pan but turns warm russet burgandy on my skin.

And while these colors don't at first sight make my heart leap with joy (especially warmer lipsticks)...I am really shocked at how I look. I don't feel garish or like any part of me sticks out. I would still like to find cooler colors I can wear. But I can tell they need something neutral or bit of warmth to them, more medium intensity, so not too shocking.

Although, I have tried on peachy dusky blushes--they look horrible on me. I still need the balance of red or cool balanced with warm, warm tempered with cool. I can't throw on an orange apricot blush and feel yay. I also will say I cannot do bronzers that lean orange. It needs to be red/pink based beige--or a very true shade of bronze. Not coppery orange. Tested that out and it was yuck.

Fun experiment and very eye opening! I don't thknk the burgandy shirt looks too bad on me either!

What do you all think?
