I have a medium to slightly wide foot and a normal instep. I found the arch too high in some of the Danskos (all closed-back clogs) so it pushed painfully into the tendon under my instep. I, too, thrifted an almost new pair of Danskos that just didn't work for me. I, too, have a slightly narrower foot. I think that like ALL brands you have to try individual styles to see how they fit. I have a pair of Dansko booties that I love, and a pair of Dansko sandals that I love as well. When I first started with Danskos probably 20 years ago, Sanitas was making their soles. Once they split, I found the Sanitas were better fit for me. I sold a barely worn pair of Danskos at a huge loss because they were pure torture for me. I will never buy Danskos ever again.<br />I sized up to a 41 from a 40.
