At first this was too close to home for me. We have had horrible wildfire seasons in Colorado the last few years (including this one) and since most of my family lives in rural Colorado we have had many many family and friends threatened. I've been evacuated several times and my grandparents have evacuated twice in the last 2 years. They had a property burn. I understand the devestating effects of wildfire on a tourism-based economy. My SO's brother-in-law is a wildland firefighter/smoke jumper for the NPS, so that adds another layer of concern for those far afield from us as we have someone on the front lines no matter where forest fires strike. We also recently lost a family business to flooding after the wildfires on Ute Pass and had a friend of the family be swept away and killed in another flooding event. </p> <p>Take care of yourself and the dogs during this stressful time, including seeking relief from the smoke if possible/necessary. I know that during the recent floods in my province, once the flood waters receded, the coverage stopped and most people assumed that life went back to normal. That was true for some people, but quite a few of the small business owners are still trying to cope with getting their businesses back to their pre-flood state.
