Jean, I think it's just whatever you prefer. That's part of your personal style. I'm rather short and easily overpowered. The added length of the fringe also made this scarf seem too long to my eye inspite of creative knotting.

Marianne, the scarf I just cut has the fringe you describe. So far so good.

i have tried this before on a scarf similar to the one marianne linked, and it worked pretty well. my only advice - make sure the scarf is long enough to wear w/o the fringe. the one i had was similar to the upper left picture on this blog post http://youlookfab.com/2008/08/.....shionable/ and it is now just a touch short to wear in the euro loop.

Is anything wrong with fringe? I like it for more casual looks.

Hmm, I was wondering about it too. I have cut it off on one of the scarves, and it worked, but I am more hesitant about others that have the hanging threads rolled and tied in a knot at the bottom, like here:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/29.....0&P=1
Would it work?

I'm wearing a new turquoise scarf today and thinking it would look better without the fringe. I seem to remember Angie saying she just cuts hers off and it doesn't unravel, but I'm afraid to try it without some validation. Has anyone done this?
