If not comfortable right off the bat, I'd return.

It's a mistake I've made too often!

You need a wide size, Karen13. I would return them.

La Ped, Chucks come in wide sizes, and today's hi-tops work on wide feet.

I have the same problem with many sneakers, Karen. I had to stop wearing Chuck Taylors a couple years ago because the rubber toe cap and sides just don't flex enough for my toes -- they're only comfortable once they're so worn out the rubber is starting to crack. I haven't figured out a good solution, apart from not wearing fashion sneakers much, and it's really frustrating. If your cobbler has an innovative solution, I'd love to know.

Thanks Molly Mac. That is what I’m afraid of. Ecco tend to run wider, and sadly these don’t come in a wide. They are close, but I have very fussy little toes. If they were leather at that area I wouldn’t hesitate. I will take them to a cobbler for advice. I do love Their shape.

In my experience rubber can not be stretched. It is the nature of rubber to return to t's natural form. The shoes are super cute. Do they not come in a wide fit?

These grey Ecco Gillian lace ups really speak to me, but I'd like a bit more room at the little toe. While the leather will stretch, it is more an issue of the high rubber sidewall coming up.

Does anyone know if a cobbler, or a ball and ring stretcher could stretch the rubber? Any experience. I love them enough to try, but I'm resolved not to sacrifice comfort. Fit Fit Fit!!

Or any similar looking styles that come in wide width or have a extra roomy toe box (like Keen, Taos or Born)? I am a 37/6.5-7 with a D width forefoot but narrowish heel. I love slightly pointy toe. and clean look, but I usually can't wear pointy toes.
