Lisa - most "snow" boots are so "gear" IYKWIM. So when I saw these with a little heel and flattering on the foot, I was pretty wowed. I use them more for rain or damp. I would use real gear boots for deep snow, but I thought these were cuter than most.
Angie - they are actually more graceful and flattering than expected. What a nice surprise!! More stylish than expected.
TG- Kind of like Uggs with a more graceful heel. Plus you can count on Merrell to make a good boot and the tread, which I forgot to mention, is excellent. Deep and grippy for anything that has a heel.
Suz - thanks for chiming in. I did not remember it was Chris looking for boots so thank you. Your Merrell's look like my hiking boots just minus the furry lining and are gortex lined. I love them but these are a little bit dressier. Agree boots are cuter in person, although on multi view you get a better idea. Extremely comfy, good arch support, great grippy soles. I posted the ariats I have. They are front zip, so I liked the lace up and silver hardware for interest. But I thought all of the boots looked nice!! Although I don't know that other colors are available!! It helps to be the princess of darkness sometimes!!

It was me and also Chris (earlier) looking for boots. This is great, Gryffin, thank you. I have a different Merrell boot for walking on ice and I like it quite a lot as well. It looks much better in person than in the photos -- it's actually kind of cute in a weird way -- and it does have good grip power on ice, which is essential for my purpose.

But your options look way more stylish and fun. I especially like the pull on for those times when you just need to be quick about it!

Great finds Gryffin! I really like the third one. I see what you mean, they don't look clunky but the soles look like they could handle snow and ice no problem.

I apologize, I can't remember who was looking for cute waterproof practical comfortable boots/booties that were stylish. This is a review of the Merrell Chateau Mid lace Waterproof bootie. First, disclaimer, I love black hiking boots. Because my wardrobe is formal and uber ladylike, I like to balance it with tough footwear. Also I have a neuroma so I require comfortable, supportive shoes/boots that can accommodate a 3/4 orthotic. I have been on the hunt for a practical, waterproof bootie that was a little dressier and flattering than my beloved keen glarus boots. Enter the Merrell Chateau (which comes in multiple styles which I have attached but have not tried). My first impression when opening the box was wow, these are way too small and delicate. They look tiny, with a nice heel but tough tread. But onward, I placed my orthotic and my foot slipped right in and wow, so flattering. Perfect size. I am usually a 7, sometimes a 7.5 and a size 7 fits perfectly with plenty of room for my orthotic and plenty of wiggle room in the toes. Because of the slight hiking platform the functional heel is just over an 1" platform is listed as 0.5" and heel 1.9" I can't usually wear heels and they are totally comfortable. Back of boot is notched to accommodate Achilles tendon. Makes your feet look tiny and elegant, nice heel, light, comfortable out of the box. I would wear these all year long with no problem. In case anyone still needs a practical but slightly more stylish hiking type boot. Highly recommended.
