Check out WHBM. I found them generous in the thighs, which I need. Good stretch without bagging out. Super comfy.

Thanks again, all. I'm going to try the Old Navy and Gap versions you've recommended. I like the short (30") inseam option at ON...the 28" is too short, as bettycrocker mentioned. Dianthus...I find comfort knowing someone else has the same shape dilemma!!

One thing, which is a pet peeve of mine when shopping for petite pants:

If you need anything other than a 28-inch inseam, your choices are going to be very limited.

I need a longer inseam and a long rise, so I either buy the very limited options available in petites (assuming the rise is long enough) that have the inseam I need, or buy misses sizes and have them hemmed up.

I have similar fit issues (flat butt and thicker inner thighs) and I tried jeans on in pretty much every jean store in two malls recently and ended up buying the ON Sweetheart skinny. They weren't too snug on the legs and didn't emphasize the flatness of the bum either. I find many of the jeans have only about 80-85% cotton so they feel and look as though they are suctioned onto my thighs and that isn't a look I am going for in any way.
Good luck.

It might be worth looking at Gap Perfect Boot, Curvy Boot, and Curvy Skinny, as well as Kut from the Kloth.

I have had good luck lately with Old Navy's sweetheart fit. You can find the short inseam in stores, but have to order petites online. They come in skinny and bootcut styles.

I've tried on the Eddie Bauer curvy fits mentioned above and really liked them as well. Some short styles can be found in stores, but the petites are online only. The only reason I haven't bought any yet is that I've been losing weight, and I want to see where my size settles before making an investment in them. I like the EB has a straight (not skinny) style as an option.

Thanks! I'll look into both. I haven't tried either brand, but did notice recently how many denim options Eddie Bauer has online. I haven't found a tailor, but should look into it, seriously! Thanks again.

Have you tried Eddie Bauer? I'm not sure what their shortest inseam is but they do have a curvy fit that I've had success with. Another brand to try would be Duluth Trading, which also has a curvy cut in several of their jeans.

The other option would be trying a straighter fit a size or two up, since your main issue is the thigh room, and getting the waist taken in.

The best fitting jeans I own are Levis 529, dark wash, curvy bootcut. I desperately need more options. Only curvy fits seem to work because my thighs are large. A straight fit almost always means the pants are too tight around my thighs. However, my rear is flat, so I often wind up with too much fabric around my bottom or hips. I'm 5'2 and wear either a 4 or 6, depending on how generous the fit is. The Levi's 529 pair that works is a 4 short (30" inseam). I have tried a bunch of curvy Kohls jeans (Jennifer Lopez, Sonoma, etc.), Ann Taylor, Loft, etc. I do not live near a Nordstrom, but would be willing to order with some advice. I would buy multiples of the 529s, but the other color options aren't appealing...I like darker washes and dislike whiskering/too much variation in dye as it doesn't flatter me.

I would love also a white denim, and those at Talbot's petite are wonderfully thick (not see-through) but had too much fabric around the hips (otherwise the curvy boot cut white denim fit in size 6 petite.

Help! I would splurge on premium denim if I knew what to try.
