I notice the pleats in the fronts are showing up on store websites, only now the leg line is narrow at the ankle and I've seen them ending at the ankle. Of course, I've learned to never say never, but it seems there is a higher chance of dress pants that narrow in towards the ankles winding up looking weird... I think it is because jeans are meant to be form-fitting all over, including the hips, whereas dress pants are meant to be more drapey. So there's higher risk of having that "lollipop" effect. </p> <p>With that said, I do prefer my dress pants to be cut closer to the body in the thigh area. That seems to be flattering for my shape, being petite with narrow hips, I can easily get swallowed up in wider legged dress slacks. For example, BR Martin's come in two different cuts. Both are bootcuts, but one is cut wider in the thigh, the other is slimmer. The wider ones look frumpy on me.
