Kerastase elixir is a similar product to Moroccan hair oil, but with a different scent. It's good, but I prefer the oleo relax serum from them. I third the ionic dryer option. For me it is a faster and smoother blow dry. I suspect you don't notice that it's faster though unless you have crazy thick hair.

For my hair (not as curly as yours) I have to have enough length to weigh it down and I use Bumble and Bumble products for blow drying in sections and a large barrelled round brush with an ionic dryer.

The B&B products aren't actually straightening products (they have some I have not tried yet)
http://www.bumbleandbumble.com.....index.tmpl
It doesn't weigh my hair down, but my hair seems to hold straight better.

IME, the tools make a bigger difference than the products. I thermally recondition my hair yearly, but about this time of year my hair is curly from roots to ear-length and then straight from ears to ends. Makes for an interesting styling session. :O

Zap's right on the ionic dryer. I bought a Rusk Speed Freak dryer prior to the holidays and LOVE it. It doesn't cut down on drying time, but it straightens really well and leaves my hair smooth and frizz-free. Then I finish with my Solia flat iron.

As for products, I like Alterna Hemp Seed Straightening balm and Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream for sealing the ends prior to flat-ironing.

Rusk dryer:
http://www.ulta.com/ulta/brows.....rod3540311

Solia flatiron:
http://www.folica.com/tools/fl.....roof-pouch

When drying, I always section first, starting with the nape of the neck. "Rough dry" each section just get get some of the moisture out, then dry the rest of the way using a round brush.

Nicoleb - a stylist used Moroccan oil on me, but I didn't like the scent. I do want to try some type of oil, though, since I keep hearing about it for curly hair.

I just read good things about Macadamia Oil:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ.....B002WTC37U

I've been low-poo for about a year, but lately I've been playing with the flat iron and curling iron, so I need to bring on the products. To be honest, I really did not see that much of a difference doing the whole low-poo thing. My hair is still totally frizzy without any product/styling, so I think I'm going back to the world of cones. But geez, there are SO MANY products out there!

When i flat iron i use a John Frieda hair serum on my wet hair (and sometimes dry too depending) first but as soon as i'm out of it i'm switching to Moroccan oil. My hair stylist used it on my hair and it was....a game changer. It's pricey (to me) though. Then i round brush it while blow drying and THEN i go back over and comb each section before flat ironing it. THEN sometimes i use a bit of Bed Head's "After Party" on each layer to really make it smooth.

A lot of times i'm too lazy to do all this.

So lately i've just taken to using a curling iron. I just blow dry my hair normally (no round brush), split into sections and curl. The curling iron smooths my hair and makes it look pretty at the same time. Way faster.

Hope some of that helped! Curly haired girls can have a hard life!

I start blow drying when my hair is much drier than hers but you can try different things and see what works best.

This is my holy grail. I do not put product before I blow dry, my hair just does not like it but this is the perfect finishing touch. I apply very sparingly and never near my roots. This is a silicon type product. It tames fly aways, removes frizz and lasts a lifetime. Use VERY sparingly.
http://www.amazon.com/CHI-Silk.....B003XFKACM

Also, invest in a good ionic blow dryer - mine is ancient and no longer manufactured, so I'm not sure which is good. Also, get yourself a good this straigthening iron. I use this one to curl (yes, curl) my ends:
http://www.google.com/products......r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1093&bih=449&wrapid=tljp1330135965868049&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=15966545946349606011&sa=X&ei=sENIT9ajOYXY0QGcr6GdDg&sqi=2&ved=0CGsQ8wIwAw#

As far as champu & conditioner, I'm a herbal essences type of gal. I use either the one for long hair or colored hair. I do no put conditioner on my roots either.

As far as technique, do not start blow drying your hair when is really damp. Allow to air dry for a bit until half way dry, then separate hair into sections, and dry one piece at the time. I use a round brush, wih fine bristles. Kind of roll each section into the brush, and apply heat then brush up and down. I will try to dig up a good you tube video for you.

I'm trying to get better at the blowout/flat iron routine, as well as the controlled curl with the curling iron.

There are so many products out there! Anyone have any faves they can share, and any tips or good sites to visit?

Much appreciated!
