I love my Teddie pants! I have four colors now. Mine have a slight stretch. I'm wearing the white ones today. I'm round on the bottom as well, and slightly taller than you, I think. Love this cut of pants, for some reason they just really appeal to me.

Very useful to see the difference between wide legs and flares, you proved they both can be styled-and made to flatter your very own way. Thanks for the great visuals!

I agree these look great on you! Love #2 with the prints and cute strappy shoes. I have also thought these wouldn't work for me but I used to wear culottes before when they were in style so maybe they could work just fine. I do think the key is length and shoes.

That's interesting. I know exactly what you mean about them being more skirtlike with their great drape. I actually have no idea if these fit the wide - leg crop bill or not. Suddenly feeling uncertain of my knowledge here haha!

Ps I was in Boston for dinner again tonight (Brown Sugar Thai, after sushi at Fuji at InkBlock last night). I think I might have to force a Boston gathering soon since I missed the last one.

Viva, it's interesting. I think the green ones are actually wider objectively but they feel more flared than wide-leg because of the soft fabric. I almost think of them as a skirt when I'm styling them, whereas the Teddies are definitely trousers. But they probably do also qualify as wide leg crops.

Honestly, I think you wear this silhouette better than anybody!
The only issue is the high waist, so if you can find some mid-rise ones, I think you're good.
Agree about #3

Diana, your striped teddies might well be wider than the stretchy solids. Fabrics can alter the silhouette of a style.

Jaileen, I did shorten these because I wanted to mostly wear flat shoes. You can see them at their original length (which was definitely less flattering) in this outfit lab post:
https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....lare-pants

Angie, it's weird. I tried on the black "regular" Teddies (in the fabric with stretch) and they did look narrower. I don't know if they actually ARE narrower, but something about the stretchy fabric and probably the darker color definitely made them appear less wide.

These pants look great on you, especially with the sweater in 1. You're right about the waist definition. There's a vast difference between 3 and 4.

I have a few pairs of flats - loafers and oxfords - that I want to wear, but my pants are too long. I ordered some "ankle jeans" and maybe they'll work. I have summery cropped pants, but by the time I want to wear them, it'll be warm enough for sandals. It's a conundrum for me. Your oxfords look cute with these pants.

I don't *quite* include my teddies into this category, since they're narrow. See the comparison below.

After I read this morning's blog post and kept nodding along to all of Angie's reasons why wide leg crops are less popular, I immediately wrote a comment about how 4 of the 6 things applied to me, and that this explained why that silhouette didn't work on me. And immediately after I posted the comment, I realized that I actually OWN a pair of wide leg crops that I think are just flattering enough. Oops. So here's proof that even something that shouldn't work can work if you find the right pair. LOL.

For the record, I don't tuck, wear heels, or do high waists. I also try to avoid widening my already wide bottom half. These summer weight Teddie pants are mid rise on me and work with untucked tops and flat shoes and I think the vertical stripe pattern keeps them looking a bit more streamlined. They will never be the most flattering shape on me, but I think they are JFE and it's fun to switch things up once in a while.

Angie mentioned in the blog comments that her Teddie pants are not really very wide. Somehow these ones on me seem wider than the more winter versions do on most other people. I'm not sure why, but my suspicion is that it's because these are a zero-stretch fabric so a bit more crisp/stiff and I also sized up (necessitated by the zero stretch).

But anyway, so here's proof to never say never!

ETA: They do require some thought when styling though. I included photo #3 because I thought it was an example where the styling doesn't work as well.... Specifically I think they require waist definition or structure on the top. (See how much better they look in #4 with the jacket to provide structure and the tee scrunched up a bit higher?)
