I keep all my cropped cardigans to wear with skirts & dresses. I also like them with voluminous tops to help add some structure.

I have three - THREE! - of the same Theory black cropped cashmere cardigan which is very simple and super-useful (all from e-bay or thrifted - I live in fear of wearing them out). I use it on planes for extra warmtth without seatbelt bulk, to rein in the top of voluminous outfits, as a substitute for a cropped blazer, and over t-shirts. I agree with others it depends on the style of the cardi... the ones at Boden seem to be endlessly popular!

You could layer them over longer tops or keep them for skirts only.

I just bought a cropped (and boxy) blue and white knit top yesterday and now I am looking at it and wondering "What was I thinking?" and "What am I going to wear with this?" I have no idea. I think that I was attracted to it because it had colors in it - it wasn't just black, white, beige, navy or gray but, really - what am I going to do with it? I'm thinking I will go back to the shop next week and ask the store owner (who sold it to me) how to wear it. One thing that the top has going for it - I LOVE it!

I really like Kristine's idea. The other option is to put them away until Christmas and see how you do without them. If you don't miss them, donate them.

BTW, I love them still !!!

I love cropped cardigans, but I prefer mine somewhat fitted. If it's super short or boxy I won't wear it. A perfect cropped cardigan is fabulous over a long tunic with skinny jeans.

I prefer cropped items with dresses, if you have a few dresses and are often cold like me, then I vote keep. If you are planning to wear mostly trousers, I like to add a cropped cardi with a longer length tank for some contrast and layering options. If all your tops are on the shorter side and layering with another short item won't work then I vote toss.

The cropped jacket or cardi seems timeless with skirts and dresses. It may be that it's not the cropped length but the lack of structure that isn't doing it for you. I feel much more fab in a jacket than a cardi but keep a few to pop into a bag if needed for warmth. You may want to donate all but a few.

I like the cropped sweaters & cardi. over my dresses. I guess it really depends on the style of the sweaters.

Hmmm, not sure. Depending on color and how you style it I'm sure you can make it look fresh and updated. Unsure whether or not cardigans are included in this category. I have a bright green cropped cardigan that I'll be wearing it into the Fall with darker camis/tops to pull it into this season.

Do you feel great wearing them? Are they in great condition? If either is "no" then out they go. If you truly love a garment, often you can update it with other pieces. It is economical and eco friendly to get the most out of what you already own, IMHO.

Do you mean cardigans or pullovers? I like cropped everything and do not really worry whether it is in or out. You can make them look modern with other pieces. Cropped cardigans are never out. I have seen boxy cropped sweaters like I wore in the 90's back in the stores.

I am trying to clean out my closet and realize how many cropped items I have. The cropped capris are getting donated, but what about cropped sweaters? I think I prefer the structured jacket and vest looks now over cropped sweaters, but was wondering what everyone else thought. The look just reminds me of 2005 and not really 2010/11. Thanks!
