Viva - I have a similiar pair. Lucky Brand crops in the easy rider. I have worn them exactly like your photos with booties and clogs. I have also rolled them to various lengths to vary the look. I do think it's easier to pull of this look when you have your length in your legs to start with. I like it and I wear it!!

Fun but not conventionally flattering. Which seems to be part of my formula for deciding to try something....

I put a 4" cuff on my 7FAM boycut boitcuts and got this shilouette although im not willing to cut them. Could be fun to try if you have any unloved wider jeans hanging around just calling to be tried like this

I love this look:). And I always have. In the past I have had black pants this cut and length. As a short person, it is definitely not conventionally flattering for me...but I still like it. And I love it with a closed shoe, an oxford, a bootie. If you are just seeing this now I expect it will be awhile before it hits our shores. Viva, I could definitely see you wearing this look:)

I think that's probably what makes them fringe - not conventionally flattering. Well, I was wearing ankle pants for a couple of years when they were not acceptable. So I guess I'll buck the trend here too.

I like cropped pants when they are tapered because they are flattering.
It's harder to find flattering cropped straight pants unless you have very long legs, I think. They do look comfortable, though.

In response to Anna's question about 2014 fringe, IronKurtin posted some denim looks from fashion week, and I was so excited to see a look that I have been craving .... cropped straight denim. To me, they are cute with flats and heels, booties. Something tomboy about them.
The first picture is from IK's link, 2 - 3 are from Madewell -- they are a little wider, but the fit principles are similar: not tapered, not calf-sucking, not rolled. The last are Current/Elliot: love.
Am I the only one, or does anyone else like these?
Maybe they are truly fringe, and that's why I am not seeing anyone else posting about them?
