Thank you all. The jeans went back today :).

I don't really like a shorter length on me so I have decided to pass on this idea for the moment. And I must admit the cropped look doesn't "feel" like me. I think I will stick with dresses and skirts on the really hot days and wear my long skinnies on the more mild days.

I like them with top #1. I wear them too (am wearing some right now actually) but only feel really good about them with a trendier top half.

Another vote to shorten these or roll them to the knee where ever your sweet spot is. Rolling them might help you decide on the best length. You always look elegant.

I vote shorten the length if you plan on keeping these, Deborah. Apart from the length, the fit is great.

I'm no expert on cropped pants/capris, but I do think you want them to fit more closely at the bottom. Maybe you could check out some of Angie's outfits featuring capris.

Sarah's suggestion to roll them up once or twice is worth a try.

Deborah, ALWAYS look elegant in my book. And like Claire, I see no messy hair, just a glowing crowning glory!

I think you could "get away" with this type of trouser, slightly more tapered, with a heel, as in #1. But not so much with flats. And presumably, the idea is something to wear in casual situations (where you might prefer flats.)

I find this whole area so fraught for me personally that like Claire, I have reverted to dresses and skirts for most of the summer! Long trousers are MUCH too warm for our true summer months. (I find white jeans laughable because we never have the kind of weather that would permit wearing them...if I yearn to wear white, it is far too hot for long denim!) Like you, I am not crazy about wearing shorts. And I don't think that clams look good on me. AT ALL. I might be able to wear them with heels, but as far as I'm concerned, that defeats the purpose.

I think shorter leggings and a tunic top might work beautifully for you. For me, that's not an option because I don't wear tunics well; I think they throw my proportions off (especially with flats). But for you, I can really see that look. After all, you wear dresses and shorter leggings quite often, right?

Thanks Ladies, you are the best! You have confirmed my suspicions.

Marley, thanks. I agree with you however a shorter top is not going to work for me:(

Claire, how sweet you are. I've just booked in for a trim cos my hair is driving me crazy.
I agree, knee length makes them shorts in my books and I just don't like myself in shorts. Capri leggings sounds like an option...I will do some research.

Elly, I like the idea of cigarette pants :). I agree the look is mundane. I think I'm going to pass on it completely for now.

Both pairs are going back tomorrow. Can't thank you enough for your feedback xxx

Honestly--- these are a little OL-- I agree that they need to be slimmer to work. You usually have this crispness and a bit of edge about your looks I love, and these cropped outfits are just very mundane-- much more like my teenage brother's friend's mothers than the super fab YLF lady we normally see. Maybe try a super skinny pair or some cropped cigarette pants?

Hi Deborah, what yuck hair? I looked at your pics before I read the text and I thought, "I need to take these pictures to the hair salon to show the stylist how I want my hair cut!"

Don't feel bad, my recent attempt at cropped pants was not met with much enthusiasm here either! (I returned them). I think Angie's guidelines say they have to be slim enough to appear "one with your leg" *and* around the knee in length (which puts them in walking shorts territory in my book).

Cropped pants are a uniform here too (almost year round). Skirts ended up being my favorite and most comfortable look. If I'm going to wear something knee length, a skirt is more comfortable in extreme heat, hands down.

What about capri leggings (just under the knee) and a shorter dress? Would that look work for you?

I think that in order to pull off cropped skinnies that they need to be more fitted than these - I don't think that there should be any gap around your leg at the bottoms of them. Also - although I'm not a cropped skinny wearer - I think that if it were me and I found the correct fitted ones, that I would wear a top that was closer to my waist, rather than longer, or tunic style! IMO the proportions would look better that way!

Lyn, cropped pants are a summer uniform where I live. Women all over Australia wear them, mostly with a wide leg and they are mostly awful. I was kind if hoping a skinny leg would be better but I'm not confident:)

Hi Ladies,

In desperate need of your advice. I bought two pairs of crop skinnies over the weekend. The black pair are going back because even though they are exactly the same as the blue, the fit feels different.

Anyway here are the blue ones. I am experiencing some confusion over the right length, shoes etc for crop pants. (I have read Angie's guidelines but maybe I have read them too many times :)) Cropped pants are not standard in my wardrobe as I don't find them to always be the most flattering, but I was thinking I could translate my winter "lemming' look to Spring / Summer with crop jeans and summery tops.

Your honest opinion on these is greatly appreciated.

Are they the wrong or right length?

I went for something similar length to my cropped leggings.

And I have tried them rolled up to just under the knee, but I don't like the look on me.

Can they be worn with flats and/or heels (I have photographed both.

I would also anticipate wearing them with summer weight tunics (longer than the tops I am wearing in the pics).

I am not sure about these, so I have no attachment to them. I just thought they could work well for weekends.

Please ignore lack of styling, no makeup, yuck hair and I just tried on two different tops so I was at least fully dressed lol.

Thank you xxx Deborah
