Great looks Tanya. You have a very good eye for this capsule creation. My favourite is #1. I remember that post of Angie's about the Burberry jacket and skirt very well. I have recreated it myself. Such a Fab look. I like your jacket (tomboy) and skirt (bit girly) very much.
I like the skirt with edgy or tomboy tops. This is me. It works well with the pretty type tops too.

I am so loving these posts Tanya. You're quite the maestro at capsules :)

The proportions of all your outfits are spot on to m eye and I love the way some of the vests add more edge, whilst some of the tops add a very pretty vibe. Lovely! Some of my faves are 2, 4, 5, 8, 9. Great stuff!

Thank you for casting your votes, ladies. This is shaping up to be quite interesting.

Carter, do have a similar sweater in navy as in #11, though it is a bit thicker, so perhaps for colder weather.

Rachy, I think I will repeat Suz's combo with the same tux shirt in the next installation and see what the reactions are like for me.

Well, now. That's an enormous amount of tops that can go with a full floral skirt. (The only one I'm a little on the fence about is 13.) Does this mean, I wonder, if the make or break point is shoes?

I'm also wondering about Suz's floral skirt and collared tuxedo shirt. I wonder if that would cause less reservation with chucks.

Finally, I'm wondering if I purged a certain Anthroplogie skirt...

My favorites are 1, 4, 10, and 14. I like the darker, more fitted tops because they leave the beautiful skirt as the main focus. I think I must be in the conservative camp - at least for dressing (lol)

Ivy and RobinF, your input is very appreciated.

Just as I suspected, the preferences fall in two general camps: the more traditional looks of shorter and fitted tops, and more adventurous ones of boxier styles. Very curious to see which camp will be in majority in the end.

Thank you very much for your input, Suz, Skylurker, Diana, UmmLila, Astrid, Angie and El Cee!
I agree that some outfits would work better with different shoes, I was just too lazy to keep changing shoes, but will fix that in the next installment of the capsule. #5 is actually quite comfortable as the leather vest is not skin tight, and I would wear it with studded gladiator sandals attached below. #2 and other outfits with light tops would be worn with light wedges also attached below.
Angie, both the dress and the top are gorgeous, love the colors and patterns. The dress goes on my "to stalk" list. I will pass on the top, as I really try to limit how many summer tops I have made of polyester.

My favourites are #1 and #10.
#5 looks terrifically edgy...but it also looks uncomfortable ?

On the whole, I like the black/ink options better.
White/blush work but look more conventional/classic.
I don't like faded blue/chambray with the skirt.

I also like the less body con options better (10 over 14 for instance), it looks more modern to me.

Well, I can say thank you for doing this because it will help me find the right tops for my own skirt!

Like you, I discovered once I got this skirt that it "goes" with just about every shirt, blouse, and sweater in my closet, but whether it "works" or not (or works well) is an entirely different question. I wore it with my blue Thomas Masson tuxedo shirt from J. Crew and most people seemed to feel it was too "conservative" or something for my new hair. Perhaps there is some disjunct there. I am not sure. Maybe a change of footwear would have solved any problem. I might try again to find out because I loved how both fabrics felt -- they are smooth and cool to the touch and complemented each other nicely that way. I also wore the skirt with a tucked in linen tee in royal blue -- I didn't really like that outfit at all, partially because I was wearing matchy-matchy jewellery and shoes that felt over the top.

Anyway...enough about me. These all look good, but my favourites are 1, 2, 9, 10, 14. I would like 5 with different footwear, or maybe the vest worn as such with a fitted tucked top underneath.

The next subject of my capsule creation is full silk floral J Crew skirt that Suz has, too. It is a little difficult to tell the background color - it looks either black or ink depending on the light, but I think it is black. It goes well with both black and dark navy, as well as other neutrals such as white and denim. It also goes well with various colors from the print: light and medium blues, light cool pink, teal and olive. So it is not the color of the tops that presents the outfit challenge, but the shape, as it tends to be with most full skirts. The toppers are easy - cropped denim jackets/vests or motos, which I have plenty of so I have not included them in the outfit photos in order to focus on the tops. I am also wearing the same black ankle-strap wedges in all these photos for simplicity, though I could go for different shoes to achieve different vibes, but again wanted to focus on tops.
For the firsts session I have focused on inspiration from two of Angie's ensembles. The first 5 outfits are inspired by Ensemble: Denim Jacket Burberry Style, where Angie recommended pairing skirts with buttoned up denim jackets worn as tops. I have slightly extended it to included buttoned and zipped up vests, too. The next 10 outfits are inspired by Ensemble: Modern Midi where the idea was to pair a full midi skirt with tucked-in denim shirt (#6-7), roomy crop top (#8-10) and fluid fine gauge welted sweater with scrunched sleeves (#11-15).
As in previous capsule postings, I am interested to hear which outfits are your favorites, as well as the ones you think don't work at all.

The outfits:

Buttoned cropped dark denim jacket

Buttoned cropped white denim jacket

Buttoned cropped light denim vest

Zipped cropped black denim moto vest

Zipped cropped black leather moto vest

Tucked-in denim shirt
