I was inspired by Diana to buy them. YLF Diana! I agree about the contrast issue KG. With the shorter ones, I do think adding tights helps with that. Those are fantastic! Thanks for chiming in. I feel somewhat the same regarding boot height and skirt/dresses. I think that's one of the reasons I was hesitant to order the Thursday combats. I've tried styling a similar boot with skirts and can't quite figure out what's off... It could be they are just high contrast and my eye hasn't quite adjusted to the look. Anyway, it's a fun exercise and has got me wearing my Docs again. I can't believe how comfortable the Taos are--I can see why so many of you have them! And I love your wintery outfit!! (Usually with leggings though, but just because these boots are quite wintery, so it’s usually on days that are too cold for bare legs!) That being said I do find the mid calf shaft height works better with skirts. (In general. I don’t have the shorter Crave boots but I do have a similar style from a different brand. I find standard ankle height combat boots to sometimes be a little awkward with skirts, but that’s mostly to do with my leg shape.) I find myself almost exclusively wearing combat boots this season, for whatever reason. I highly recommend. I see from Angie’s response they now have one in bronze. Yummy. I will think about that next year. For what it’s worth, I don’t tend to wear mine with skirts and dresses and bare legs. They feel a bit too rugged and wintery to wear with bare legs. Something to do with the suede/Nubuck effect. YMMV. But I do occasionally. I’m pretty sure forum member Diana wears hers with skirts and dresses and bare legs. I think the black combat style might just be too much edge for me. I felt the same about the plain black moto which is why the Bernardo with the leopard print is so much easier for me to style. I waited too long on the Thursday combat boots because I was waffling. Several of the reviews mentioned a break in period (and the weight of the boots) who gave me pause. I’m waitlisted on them but was going back and forth on those and the Crave. The Crave are more steampunk but am going to play around with them before I commit. The color is a rich reddish brown. Really pretty. They're a bit heavier than I thought they would be but very comfortable. True to the size chart.
