I see it in Southern California. I have a great pair of black snip toes - love to wear with jeans. Unfortunately some swollen leg and foot issues over the last couple of years have prevented me from wearing them, but the boots are still by my bed.

I'm in Texas, so yeah. I see lots of cowboy/cowgirl boots. I also see a lot of those "fatbaby" style ones that IMO make people look like they have platypus feet or something (see pic)

I don't currently have any, but they're on my list of HEWI wishes. I'd like some from Lucchese but I have yet to find any that are as freaking comfortable as Ariat. Ariat just makes a really stupidly comfortable boot. (BTW, so jealous of your Ariat boots, those are awesome!) I also really like Ariat's x-toe better than almost anything else I've seen, so definitely will be looking at Ariat first when I'm ready to splurge.

Of course, being in Texas and wanting a pair of Ariat boots doesn't mean I've gone all cowgirl-native I'm the weirdo who would wear them with a Rick Owens sweater and leather leggings, not a plaid shirt and straight leg jeans LOL Nothing wrong with plaid shirts and straight leg jeans, just not my personal aesthetic.

Thumbs up! Love your boots, especially the intricate stitching and the posh pink lining. I live in Florida and am far closer to the beach than an actual horse, yet I own 3 pairs of Frye cowboy boots. I wear them year round with all variations of jeans.

Yes I wear them! I am in the NYC/NJ area and rarely see other people sporting cowboy boots. But that's fine with me. I have one pair that's python and crocodile from Oklahoma and the other pair is butterflies and horseshoes from Tennessee. I am often asked where I am from when I wear them. You can see both of my boots near the bottom of the pics in this post from my blog.

I'm in Kansas, in an area where city and country style collide. I've always wanted a pair but haven't found the right ones. I'm not a real cowgirl like others in my area who (whether they live in the country or not) love country music and the whole lifestyle, so I need to find a pair that don't make me feel like a poser and that I can wear confidently. I love yours, though!

"All hat and no cattle".....that's hilarious and I have to remember it!

I had horses for years and only wore my rubber boots around them unless I was riding and then I wore sneakers.

Anyway, I'm going shopping next week and just may try on some cowboy boots just to see how I feel in them.

I don't, but my DH wears them every day to work, with his suits. I'm from Florida, and he's from Central America. We both work for the agricultural college at the university. He bought his Tony Lama boots while we lived in Texas (we were there for 5 years), and loves them. I do wear boots, but mine are not cowboy boots.

I'm finding the comments about authenticity really interesting--those who wouldn't wear cowboy boots because they don't work with horses.

I spend more than my fair share of time at the barn, actually, but my cowboy boots have never been there! I wear muck boots (rubber), Ariat clogs, or English riding boots.

From a Texas standpoint, anyhow, there are work boots:
http://www.cavenders.com/produ.....=JUWKL4661

And then there are dance or rodeo boots!
http://www.lucchesecowboyboots.....eldu1.html

The ones in my photo are somewhere in the middle--just everyday casual boots. I wouldn't wear Western-style work boots because I don't need them, but I think that anyone could wear the other styles.

Hats are a different thing, though. A Texas expression for a poseur is that he is "all hat and no cattle"!

I've been oddly attracted to them recently, and I even bought a pair on eBay that turned out to be too narrow for my foot. Le Sigh. As an ex-pat I'm a little worried about looking like a walking stereotype with my cowboy boots, but then I've seen plenty of other women in the UK wearing them so I don't think I would actually stand out that much.

I'm not so fond of the super pointy toes, though. I prefer a slightly more rounded and less traditional shape.

I don't wear them because I do live in an area where most wearing cowboy boots are the real thing...from a ranch. I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them in this area with no connection to a farm. If I lived in NYC or Boston I would wear these boots because they would probably just look like part of an outfit and not a necessity. I hope that makes sense.
This is just my own bias and no reflection on how anyone else wears them.

I have *at least* three pairs - one blue with butterflies from Heritage Boot here in Austin, one red and one black from Lucchese, and more that nod to the style: two pairs of ankle cowboy boots, one black and one brown, and one pair of black cowboy mules. I wore cowboy boots in NYC and CA way, way before I ever moved to Texas! I love them.

I do not, however, wear these boots with skirts - I don't love that look. I wear my boots over skinnies or leggings, or under bootcuts or wide legs.

I just got some Justin ropers from ebay (Justin is way underrated and therefore reasonable price compared to Frye) and just picked up from reconditioning at cobblers.
I also have some Frye Campus and used to wear a Justin harness style all the time but my feet changed size after DD was born. My original Justins were from jr high years and i did ride (yes we have horses and stables in Oakland hills) back then.
I love your Ariats - perfectly broke in.

I see Western boots all over but live in a college town where anything goes.

Love them. And I'm a suburban/city girl from the east coast. I have a tan pair and a very dark oxblood pair -- both Lucchese. I've worn the tan ones to death especially, with jeans, dresses, skinnies, you name it. I figure my cost per wear on those is in pennies by now.

I don't have any. I absolutely love the idea of wearing them with a pencil skirt, any fabric, and have always loved them with a flowy summer dress. But I know I'd hate myself in them. I'd feel like a fat redneck cowhand rather than chic and a little edgy.

I would if I found a pair that fit right. Even though I live in the American southwest, the suburb I'm in is new and mostly transplants form Southern California (and other places, because of the housing boom) so I don't see a whole lot of western wear around me (unless I go to the feed and tack store) I think they're super cool. I once had some brown ostrich embossed cowboy boots that I loved. You should wear yours proudly when you don't mind being looked at!

I respect the real deal but do not live in an area where they are very prevalent. (Northern VA) I think if worn like regular boots in my area they would be awesome. I had a pair of cheap red ones that I thought were totally cool, but actually uncomfortable and stood out in a bad way. Yours look like they would work anywhere.

I have a pr. of black pointy toed cowboy boots that are at least 20 yrs. old but they are timeless looking. I break em out every once in awhile...I am oddly attatched to them:)

I like them with bootcuts...I rarley wear bootcuts ever anymore...but that is my favorite look with bootcut jeans.

No, not really. They're rare in Vancouver, as are cowboy hats. We're not a cow town; we're a port. Both are pretty popular in Calgary, though (one province over).

I sort of like the look of cowgirl boots with a denim pencil skirt, though. Rock those boots, Velma!

Ruth's cost-per-wear post got me thinking . . .

Do you wear cowboy boots? If so, where do you live (state or approximate region)?

Here are my boots. They're Ariat, now over 15 years old, and still going strong. I take reasonably good care of them, but I sort of like their beat-up patina, so I don't worry about every spot and scrape. I've had them resoled only once. Note the pink lining! :-)

I bought my boots while living in Texas. They are about as common as sneakers in Austin! Now in upstate New York, they attract some attention instead of blending, but I love them and wear them pretty regularly with jeans. Once in a while I wear them with bare legs and a denim pencil skirt--again, common in Texas, especially in the evening, but a rare look here.

Do you wear and/or see women wearing cowboy boots where you are?
