Staysfit, Your post was so timely. It was the first new one for me this morning, and I thank you for All of your nice comments. The suggestion to exercise my arm was great. I had not heard that before, and I would never have thought to do it. So, starting around 9:00am I did exercise my arm several different times today. I have no soreness or weakness in my arm. I know it helped.or prevented any discomfort. I want to pass along your suggestion to everyone who gets the Covid shot. It worked for me! :)

I am glad that you got your vaccine and that all went smoothly. For the second exam they only needed to see the card that showed I had had the first vaccination and what it was.

So glad it went well! We got our 2nd shots today (due to being essential caregivers for my sister in Assisted Living.) The building she lives in is about 1 mile from us, and they held it in their huge lunchroom. They just had open hrs 8am-11am, so we got there about 9:30. No lines, filled out the short form, waited about 5 minutes to get the shot, sat for 15 and done. Back home by 10 am. Very grateful, as I have been basically homebound for a yr, outside of needed medical appts because of having stage 3B Chronic Kidney Disease w/1 deformed kidney. Looking forward to little trips to Target and such and to return the 90 billion online clothes I bought! Ugh....

Bridgie, I’m so glad it went so smoothly! Hope you’re feeling well and no soreness today.

I look forward to getting my vaccine...someday. If hubs and I go to the ranch in Texas, we can probably get it sooner because they are downright begging reluctant people in TX to come get their vaccines, while here in MD people who need them more urgently than we do are still waiting.

I don’t think I own a cold shoulder top anymore, so I’ll probably do what I do when I donate blood: wear a short sleeve tee under a zip-up hoodie, and later a jacket over top for outdoors.

Bridgie, I’m glad everything went well. I saw this after your shot so I did not get to give you this piece of advice. Hopefully someone at the vaccination clinic told you........Move your arm frequently for the first 8-12 hours after the vaccine! It helps reduce the muscle pain that most people develop! :-)

Kudos for drawing complementary attention with your awesome outfit and hat! I am happy to read about your joy with a pretty, well fitting bra! Underpinnings make a big difference, and maybe wearing it put a smile on your face and increased your attractiveness! :-)

I admit that I did not wear anything special for my vaccines. Both times I put on my exercise gear, picking a sleeveless top to make shoulder access easy. I wore my down puffer and my snow boots since it was snowing both times.... My appointments were at 7am and my plan, which worked, was to run out, get the vaccine, and head home to do my workout before starting my workday by 9am. My vaccine appointments only took 15 minutes start to finish.

I have been fully vaccinated since January. My parents who are in their mid- 80’s are now fully vaccinated. DH and both my adult children recently became eligible and have had their first shot. Once they get their second, we plan to visit my parents. Given their age, and health status, my plan is to get COVID tested before we leave to make sure no one is an asymptomatic carrier. My understanding is that the vaccine does not guarantee prevention of infection, but does reduce risk of severe, life threatening illness.

I wore tan chinos, cream colored sleveless shell, navy blue with cream polka dots cardi and was able to push sweater sleeve up and didn't have to take it off, rose gold chain with large crystal teardrop pendant, no other jewelry, micro fishnet panty hose, 3 year old Born loafers, tan, denim, and white and denim bucket hat. I saw absolutely no one else wearing a hat. I do believe a younger man working there, who appeared to be an executive or overseeing the entire operation noticed my hat and liked it. Just a hunch, but as we were walking to a door where he was standing, I thought he looked at me and as usual, I thought I was blocking someone and should move along, but there was no one else there and that was not happening today at all. The traffic flow was excellent. So I spoke to him
and he did the same. And this is too much info, forgive me but my bra is leopard print, pretty tan and light colors. About 10 years old and fits so nicely. That is how I used to shop before YLF. If I liked something and it was on sale, it was mine.
The vaccine I got was Moderna and I take one more shot in 4 weeks, scheduled while we were there today.

I have no complaints! Glory, I see you were last to post and my visit went exactly as you wished, without a hitch, no scrambling around trying to figure where to go or what to do. Signs posted everywhere and workers at their stations and doing their jobs efficiently and pleasantly.
We parked in the parking garage of The Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Ky very close to the elevator. Passengers were limited to two, but in our case, three because my DDIL was our guide and we are people who have been together during Covid. Sign in station, pick up forms to complete, station to sit and complete forms, workers nearby but not hovering (each person or group next to each other but 6ft away from next group. Hand sanitizers for each person and masks readily available if needed. EVERBODY was masked. When forms completed it was reviewed by workers for omissions. The only omission on mine was my primary care physicians phone number. I knew it was missing because I have recently moved here and in process of locating a whole new set. She did not waste time lecturing me, she kept to business at hand!
L'Abeille, they did ask about allergies to meds, I have one and documented it, and the only other medication they asked about was blood thinner. I do take a blood thinner but was told that was fine and keep taking it and any other medication as usual. I am already limited to tylenol for pain, etc (not sure but think it is because I take the blood thinner).
Rachylou, because of the above, today they told me to continue the tylenol when needed, but no Ibuprofen. So, if I don't feel any worse than I do now I won't need either. LOL
Next to THE needle lady. She carefully explained everything, and she talked to my DDIL's mother and me at the same time, with our permission, and my DDIL could listen since she was listed as emergency contact.
I have always dreaded getting shots, so by now I admit i was visibly shaken, but I think when I am at that point with anything I dread, it is not so visible to anyone, except for the fact I become so quite. Not that I am a loud mouth ( too old). The other lady is very, very, quite always and I learned today she is 13 years younger than me. Anyway, she took her shot first, and I turned my head. Now, my turn and I sure kept my head turned. And, I am here to tell you, I barely felt the needle and I believe it was the least painful shot I ever had in my life. And I told the shot lady that. She said she was glad. Onto our next stop. We were asked to sit at least 15 minutes in case we had a reaction. We were sitting in front of the water room waiting for reaction that never happened. We were offered a bottle of water, I accepted and pulled my mask aside to sip it a couple times. We sat 30 minutes and no reaction, nothing happened, except I was getting fidgety and ready to leave. lol
It was almost 3 pm when we got home. We were gone approximately 2 hours The one thing I haven't mentioned is ID. The only ID they asked for was drivers license.
For any of you choosing to take the shot, I hope all goes as smoothly for you as it did for me!
Now I am going to read the Catcher and the Rye.
My love to all of you. from: Bridgie

Great news Bridgie! To what you are bringing, I would add: if you have written documentation of allergies or list of medications you are on, bring that as well. They are likely to ask you the first; not likely to ask for the second, but in case they do, it is so much easier to have it all written down.

For my shot, I wore a sleeveless sweater vest, as a shell, with a cardigan overtop. We waited indoors, for a very long time, so I ended up carrying the cardigan and my big puffer coat. I could have used a portable camp stool too! I think they gave all 200 people the identical time slot. By the second shot, it ran much more smoothly.

I went to a FEMA-run site. All they wanted was my ID (to prove I lived in Brooklyn) and the form I filled out for them. When my husband went two days later, they didn't even care that he hadn't updated his ID yet to reflect that he's in Brooklyn, though he brought mail to prove residency. The FEMA sites are all about getting people through quickly. It's a very impressive operation. My next appt was automatically made for three weeks later.

That said, I think it's better to have all your documentation, just in case.

Good luck! I had Pfizer. Side effects were minimal--I think it exacerbated some headaches and fatigue from my allergies the next day.

So cool to hear people are getting vaccinated!

I think you should review the website or other instructions you’ve received as far as what paperwork to bring along. Have the items they specify on top of all the other stuff you’re bringing just in case.

I agree with other suggestions on what to wear—something sleeveless under something warm. A cardi or jacket is probably best on top, so you can just pull that sleeve partway down.

Everyone was masked.
Very well organized, friendly and professional. I wish everyone in the world could be having this same experience.

Thanks for starting this thread as I go on Thursday!

My vaxx site is a mile walk away so I was planning on walking there and back to get some exercise, but then my daughter (K-12 teacher who got her jab last week) said I should drive or be driven as she didn't react well -- threw up afterwards and was feeling poorly with flu symptoms for about 36 hours. Then again this is a kid who's never liked any sort of shot or blood draw so I don't know how much anxiety played a role.

As for the what to wear, I was going to wear a sleeveless tank with a fleece sweatshirt over it. I don't have any cold shoulder tops. The email I got said we will be provided masks, but I intend to double-mask as I've been doing, one disposable with a cloth over top.

IF I owned a cold shoulder ala Dolly I would TOTALLY wear it!!! But I haven't had much occasion to dress up for a year!

I got my vaccinations at the county fairgrounds so I dressed in a short sleeve tee and wore a warm puffer over it. The shot was given inside a large open building, probably designed for fair exhibits, divided into about a dozen cubicles and afterward we all sat outside for 15 or 30 minutes depending on whether one had a risk factor or not. It was cold outside so I was glad I had a warm topper. You sound very well prepared and it is so great that you are getting the vaccine. I feel much safer now that I am fully vaccinated.

I also wore a sleeveless top under a cardigan! I brought my driver's license, insurance card, Medicare card and I wore a cloth mask. Everyone was asked to put on a disposable mask under the cloth one or in place of it. We went to a health center (closed to their patients on that day) affiliated with our network, so the information was entered into our health records right there. We were in and out so quickly that I barely had time to shed a tear of relief!

My husband was asked for his ID (driver’s license), insurance card, and Medicare card. He wore a double mask (two masks I made, sewn together, for four layers of fabric). He didn’t take anything else. It took about a half hour, including filling out paperwork and waiting after the actual shot. He was home in about an hour, but then the Walmart was only a few miles away.

If it were me, I would wear a sleeveless top under a cardigan. I don’t have a cold shoulder top, either.

ETA: Good Luck!

Tomorrow is the day I have been anxiously awaiting. I am scheduled for my Covid vaccination. It will be given at a hospital about 10 miles from where I live. My ddil is planning to drive. I think I mentioned that her mother had not decided if she was going to get the shot but when she heard I was she wanted to get hers also, which pleased me. I am so neutral in my friendships. I never tell anyone that I think they should or should not do something, unless I am asked point blank, and then I probably skip around a direct answer, but tell them what I am going to do. The above has nothing to do with why I am posting now, so please don't hesitate to reply. :)
Is there anything you can think of someone needs to take but might not be aware of or forget?
I am taking my drivers license, credit cards, and blank check. And other cards I carry all the time, hospitalization info, AA A road service, etc. Also going to add my SS Card. I don't usually carry it but just last week I had to make extra trip to get my driver's license in this state because I didn't have SS card with me.
I am going to take 3 small bottles of water, one for each of us, a mask and probably one extra. and disposable gloves. I use them more than most people I see. And hand sanitizer and hand wipes.
I haven't decided what I will wear, but do have plenty of clothes, all clean.
If I had heard earlier that Dolly Parton was wearing a cold shoulder I am sure I would have tried to get one. I don't have one, because I don't think I would care for it on me, but never say never, and I would wear a cardi or other topper over it.
