Just pretend the opening boxes mess is Christmas! When we moved out here, I decided to just open the kitchen cupboards and start jamming stuff in there&nbsp;(instead of figuring out the "perfect" spot for everything and getting paralysis of analysis). We got everything out of the boxes and put away in one day. Pictures were stood up against the walls where I thought I might like to hang them.&nbsp;Later, I organized everything a little bit at a time. I can't tell you how helpful that has been. You can tell people where to put things and you can find them 5 boxes deep and high.</p> <p>Oh and about moving with doggy, don't forget the first thing to show them about the new place is where they should potty(!) Tons of good tips in the articles (and comments) and a great checklist.<br /> My tip is to pack an 'open first' box with clean linens, towel + washcloth/toiletries, phone charger, a plate/glass/fork/spoon/teabag and anything else that will be comforting or essential the first night you spend there. Nothing says home like a clean bed and your own pillow and that first cup of tea or coffee the next morning.<br /> Good luck! My last day at work is (one day less than) two weeks away. So many details to take care of! Appointments at the vet, the optometrist, the dentist, the doctor, so I have things taken care of before I go. Secured a mover yesterday. My realtor wants my floors refinished, so getting estimates. Figuring out how to go through some boxes while keeping the house in showable condition. Finishing a major project at work. Signing up for cable, landline, internet, gas, electric, renter's insurance&nbsp;for my new place. Finding a storage unit, which I didn't want to do but I've caved in. Saying goodbyes.</p> <p>I am okay! I was so anxious before but now I have no choice but to stay calm and soldier on.</p> <p>I last moved in 1989! Definitely not an expert at this. So.... I was wondering, do any of you have any tips for me? Ideas you found useful for staying organized or keeping your sanity?</p> <p>Thank you! </p>
